Re: the end of the universe

Postby Souichiro » Wed Aug 24, 2005 7:10 pm

And this dude comes up to me and says: HEY PUNk! And I'm like: Whatever...........

Ow wait wrong reaction!

I haven't got the slightest idea on how or if the Universe will ever come to an end. Basically I don't really care about it....As I can be run over by a truck tomorrow too..( I've had some close encounters ;)) What I do know that currently there are many strange situations on this little Planet You people call Earth....Forest Fires and Drought in Spain and Portugal and Floodings in the Rest of Mainland Europe (well the west) What's up wit that? And I won't blame it on Solar heating! What I do know is that 40 years ago drought also hit Spain in Portugal So maybe All runs in Cycles? in a few million it's our turn instead of the Dino's..Or maybe not.

Now for all of you Who haven't got the clue what I'm saying here....I'm sorry It's 2 in the morning and I can't sleep...Ow well Let's give it another try ;D

Makes you wonder who was the first to travel that far to get the very first jar of marmalade to earth....  ???  ;D

Who says he travelled to it... he was just doing his canning when the universe was 'Big Banged' into him -- peelings and everything, right into the mix; probably even the first finger (uhm... index finger, guys; maybe a thumb):o :-[!

We have no proof of the universe being created without defining what we mean by the universe. First off, where did the basis of matter come from... or its origins origins....
Aside from it being most logical that we shouldn't even exist, the more logical would be that the universe should just be an endless void; the next most logical might be an endless form of matter or solidity. Instead, the universe is a vast amount of space, nearly vacuum, with little spots of matter, like us, very dense :P.

Hopefully this will be many millennia after I've popped my clogs. If it should happen before then I think I would rather not know.

More probably, you might know it is the instance of your end [which you may not have time to kiss] and not definitively the universe's; as you indicate, that wouldn't even be your concern at the time :'(.

I thought Paz made a valid comment. It's more than likely that the human race will become extinct for one reason or another long before the end of the Universe. In that case I don't see the point of worrying about the Universe.

...You are forgetting about reincarnation Hagar...what if we do keep coming back after death as many people believe?......then we have to start worrying at some point, even if it is millions of "lifetimes" in the future. Still maybe I'll just be a mouse or a flea by then so I won't be thinking that way...commoner :P ;)

Not forgetting but deliberately steering clear of. I think this is what astrophysicist George F. R. Ellis was implying by this:
What I want to bring into the open is the fact that we are using philosophical criteria in choosing our models. A lot of cosmology tries to hide that.

My entry still applies on Hagar's behalf: at the final moment, he's not going to take time to care. As for the "what if we do keep coming back after death as many people believe?", maybe there's not only one door to the "other" side -- it's a maze: people keep making the wrong turn and wind up right back in this foresaken place.
(Aside from the fact that we're pushing on "religious" issues)

Precisely. Your comments are not lost on me.
you might know it is the instance of your end [which you may not have time to kiss] and not definitively the universe's; as you indicate, that wouldn't even be your concern at the time.
Put in more basic language: "Time to kiss my arse goodbye".

This profound question sums it up.
where did the basis of matter come from... or its origins origins....

Just thinking about that gives my aforesaid "end" a headache. Hence my earlier remark about driving myself insane. ::)

I've tried to keep away from this as best i can,
5.
a. I think the universe will end at some point only to start over again as in a life cycle.
b. as papa roach sang in the blood brothers song:
"It's our nature to destroy ourselves
It's our nature to kill ourselves
It's our nature to kill each other
It's in our nature to kill, kill, kill "
c. The suns dying out we all know that but it will not be in our lifetimes that it finally goes.

thats only my opinion though.

I wouldn't be so sure that Salisbury's will still exist in the year 2099. ;)
