A mixture of nonsense and fact bound up in the hearts of trees and written by people with nothing better to do with their time! ;)

Thank goodness for JB Rowling I say. No matter what anyone thinks she is responsible for making reading popular again, without any bullying or Ozzy getting his sadistic pleasure. :P Allowing people of all ages to use their own imagination instead of watching someone else's interpretation of it.

Once they've read HP they might try something else & will have a rewarding hobby lasting a lifetime. People who enjoy reading rarely complain about being bored. It's also the best way of learning grammar & spelling. You only have to look through this forum to see how these subjects have been neglected in recent years. I put this down to the fact reading went out of fashion, substituted by TV & video games. People who don't enjoy reading don't know what they're missing. IMHO

Das Boot is excellent. I read it (English translation of course) before watching the brilliant TV series. Couldn't put it down.

I have to agree with you Doug, I go everywhere with at least one book to hand. My students say it is easier to recognise me by the top of my head when I'm walking around town as I have my nose in a book :-[
And the book Das Boot was exceptional (in English), I haven't seen the film though...
Okay so truth time, how many of us read sitting on the loo? Have you ever had comments like "Will you hurry up and finish that chapter as other people need to use the facilities"? ;D

Life isn't like that for me. 8) I guess that is what having a family, working and properly growing up does.
I'm a happy single care-free bloke at the moment. ;D
