Well the design would depend on whether the aforementioned machine is a transceiver or just a simple transmitter. If it is only a transmitter then wrapping it in aluminium foil should do the trick.
If it is a transceiver then I just need to work out the frequency it transmits on and make a bigger blocking signal. Fairly simple

since they supped the tolls, unless you buy this "I-Pass", the tolls just doubled. if you have the pass, tolls stay the same.

simple fact is none of this will happen. London would have to close down, all those workers who live in Oxford and commute would end up paying huge loads every day. no workers no business. we all know how the government likes to keep those happy.

I think the US price includes state tax so the actual gas costs less than the price at the pump. Tax obviously varies from state to state but I imagine the cost before tax is much the same as in the UK.

I just realised from reading the article I linked to that there are 2 separate fuel taxes in the UK, Fuel Duty at whatever the Chancellor cares to set it at + VAT at 17.5%. This means that we are paying tax (VAT) on the Fuel Duty itself.

NH boasts no Sales Tax but there is what can be called a luxury tax: NH figures you can sleep out in the wind and rain, so motel/hotel room rentals are taxed; like most other preditory species, you can eat your food raw, so there's a prepared food tax;  you can walk, roll or be blown by the wind so there's a vehicle tax with 1st purchase (many other states levy tax with every re-registry -- you only purchase it once but an owner must re-register each year, so it's sort of like extending your VAT -- go figure); gasoline usage -- arson, a greater burn for your cigarette, vehicle fuel or whatever your hobby -- is considered in the same category and it, too, is taxed. I think the going rate is 8% (at least that's what we've been told we have to apply to our rooms rate -- not as bad as 80%, though). That drops a $2 total to just over $1.85 -- now I believe there are some Federal tariffs to consider, at least on the imported oil (we do have some of our own but most is imported). So, I guess we're running pretty close to the same original price -- still some difference with the end result, however.  :'(
Now, what was the excuse we used for that thing we did back in the late 1700's -- oh, yeah, taxation?  Seems somebody made a good call on that part.

Yes but do you have any idea how congested the tube, buses, trams and trains are? Ken thought it would be an easy thing. Obviously not. The bus service is the worst with the amount of them not being enough.

When ever I go to london I do try to avoid the rush hour, but yes I know how bad it can get. But it's always an alternative to paying the congestion charge.

Its across the north side of Toronto and always seems to me to be Govt Gouging.....once the winter snow and business traffic got stuck on it, it really offered no quicker way to cross the city than any other hwy route......

......and oh yeah, that first image in the gallery ?.....I used to drive through that on my way to and from home/work.....its real !

Hi Ken

Have used the 407 several times when I knew the weather would be below limits to get the C172 back home.
I can always get out....it is hard to get back into the strip if a storm has passed through.
I find the 407 a nice easy drive to Hamilton, what I would like to see is a highway like the 401 or 407 across Canada for buses and tractor trailors, trucks in general.
Even better lower the rail road costs of moving freight and have companys ship tractor trailers/containers by rail.
Toronto also has some new rules during rush hour, so many people must be in the vehicle to use a certain lane I believe.  Sorry I am not up on that but I am sure some of our members might be.

Consider this, if the UK Govt. fit a "Black Box" in your car, to monitor your road useage, they will also, at a stroke, be able to monitor where you are, and, how fast your going!

Talk about "Big Brother is watching you" !!!  ::)


However, GPS tracking devices can be defeated, I regularly disable mine, when I want some time to myself....  ;)
