If that's true, and that was the original intent of the thread, then the title would have been better off reading "Some of the guys who were executed in ancient times could have died from something else..."  
 
It didn't.  It clearly says "Jesus could have died from something else... "  
 
You guys can make me the scapegoat on this one too, just like the thread on the pope.  I'll get the nasty PMs, the warnings from the staff...I'll undoubtedly be asked to drop it.  I could not possibly care less.  In fact, to be honest, it's all getting rather tiresome.
 
But some of you really need to look at yourselves and figure out what it is about the envelope that makes you want to push it so badly.   I guess it's not religion unless it supports your agenda.  It's not politics unless it's in line with your position.

If you saying this is a religious thread just because it mentions Jesus in the title then all threads that make any reference the the word jesus, god, cross or anything like that should also be considered religious and therefore banned which would in my mind be PC gone way to far.

I can sit here and think that because crucifixtion used to be a common form of execution and it's fairly widely acknowledged that Jesus existed whether he was the son of god or not. All this thread was about was this doctor putting forward another potential cause of death for crucifix victims which he applied to Jesus as an example.

Roman way of doing it USUALLY was tying the arms to the horizontal bar after putting them over it. Whitout support for the feet, it would be over in a few minutes as the victims lungs were punctured by his own bones.

If they wanteed to really make the guy suffer (death by dehydration, and that would often take a day or five) the arms were tied at the front of the horizontal bar, so the guy could not move
