PHONE FRAUD - WARNING FROM THE POLICE 11 MAY 2005



We have been advised of a telephone fraud currently in operation -this
applies to home and work telephones, landlines and mobiles.  If you receive
one of these calls, upon answering the telephone you will hear a recorded
message congratulating you on winning an all expenses trip to an exotic
location. You will then be asked to press 9 to hear further details. If you
press 9 you will be connected to a premium rate line that costs
approximately
If your not part of the answer    your part of the problem!

yeah, jamster, i've heard about that. you get a free song if you text a certain number, but then it says it expires it 30 days. i hear it expires in 15. then they charge you (again I hear) $2 a month for the ringtone. i dont even get the ringtones Sprint PCS has to offer, much less an outside source...

oh yeah, so a european phone number is 12 digits?

and i was wondering, if you were to dial 1-847-###-####, would you reach a number in the chicago, IL area? (for the people across the pond)

i've been getting those calls almost every day for like half a year. i always hang up as soon as i hear that stupid taped voice going "congr...." but what bothers me is that the call sometimes wakes me up (late afternoon i must say ::)) >:( >:(

Yep I get that call......American accent and the same voice every time. I hang up and NEVER press 9 or any other key..........thanks for posting it though. Might save sombody from some expense....commoner >:(
