Get your Mars rovers ready!

Postby Hyperion2 » Wed Jun 01, 2005 11:04 am

Did you know that earth is moving closer to Mars at a speed of 23,500 miles per hour?

That means that in a single day, earth has gotten 564,000 miles closer.

In a week, we're 3,948,000 miles nearer to our martian friends.

A month brings us 17,484,000 miles closer.

Right now we're 205,860,000 miles closer to Mars than we were just one year ago.

Oh there's definitely nothing out of the ordinary involved, and I knew we were moving closer, I just had no idea how fast.  That's the part I find pretty cool.  (Should make for some great Mars spotting come October!)

When I was 11 I may have thought that way...but pressing 30 I'm a little wiser than that. ;)

Well Hype as soon as Mars gets in range of my C172 I am going to be the first one there.  I shall put up my own flag and declare the planet mine.
I shall declare myself King of Mars and fine anyone that comes within my realm.
My weapon shall be the Mother-in-laws picture. :o

At 65 plus plus now how long did you say I would have to wait to make my wish come true?

:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

What's interesting to me is everyone is afraid of the world being blown apart by comets. That won't happen for millions of years I bet. When you think about it, the continents all moved away from each other, right? So eventually, Alaska is going to run into Russia, because the tectonic plates and all that are moving.

So shaddup. :)
