This strengthens my belief we are better off seperate from the EU. But thats another story.
How can they honestly class a warbird like a B17 at the same level as a 737 which to be fair carries hundreds of passengers a day.

To be honest I don't think this legislation was intended to have this effect. It's one of those things that the people making the rules wouldn't even think about. There's a clause in the directive allowing for certain types of aircraft to be exempt from these regulations. If it's tackled in the right way I'm pretty sure it can be sorted out.

It's typical of this country to take European regulations as gospel. Most of the euro-regs can be interperated to suit your situation if you look into them closely enough.

A classic case of this was when the eurocrats got their hands on cheese makers. One cheese maker up in Scotland was almost put out of buisness by the local food  inspector.
The regs said that the shelves that the cheese was matured on had to be washable. The inspector said that this ment that the shelves should be steel, even though the wooden shelves were perfectly adiquate and more sterile than steel would ever be. Also steel causes the cheese to sweat and spoils it.
Cutting the story short the cheese maker challenged the inspectors findings..... after lengthy court challenges the cheese maker won. His case rested on the fact that wood was just as washable as steel or plastic and  he also proved that the natural antiseptic qualities of wood made it even cleaner than either of the other materials, plus it didn't spoil the cheese.

I think that someone needs to check the Euro-regs more closely there must be some sort of get out for large warbirds.
I'm damn sure that the French won't ground any of their large classic aircraft and won't worry about pushing the limits of the law.

And that doesn't slightly concern you? I would like it if these lawmakers were making sure everything within reason is covered. Warbirds arnt a small oversight, they are a big part of yearly flying displays. THis goes down to incompetance or lazyness if thats the excuse they want to use. Your choice as to which.

I fail to see your point on that. What does civil airline regulations being decided by a central force have to do with a countries problems outside of that? Amazingly there are people who do care about these things as its not just some plane flying about, but a true historic memorial that is becoming rarer. Is it more important to me than German problems, yes because i dont live there, never will and i have no power or ability to fix them.

I'm just trying to say that complaining about a regulation and the organisation that has put it up can achieve nothing. I'm sure those guys in Brussels had their good reasons for this measure.
