well done mate, i believe passing your test these days is a lot harder than it used to be....
i'd have to agree that a neon would probably be an ok choice, but at the moment i can put my hands on 2 cars that may be ok for you, a peugeot 205 1.4 auto, and a corsa 1.5 d auto.....both are under a grand, and in my opinion good cars for a 'newbie', so to speak.  i buy and sell cars on a part time basis, im a valeter so i generally can get hold of bargains!  ;D    but as a fellow simv member i'd obviously let you have one for a good price  ;)
blimey fozz, your doing well! 55 yrs on a bike and no crashes!!??  i lasted 4 months! until a stupid person pulled out in front of me! i think that was the closest i'll ever get to flying solo!!  :(

No need to apologise Craig, I wasn't offended & it was my fault for not writing properly in the first place.

Have you been out 'solo' yet? in your parents car perhaps?

Cheers,

TSC.

No i cant. I took my test in an automatic, i didn't have the time right now for extra lessons in a manual. My mum and dad only drive manuals. Might be going out saturday to look at some cars.

Nice job Craig. In a little less than a year I'll be starting driving lessons.

I was just wondering, in the U.K., do you have to be 16 to get your license like in the US?

18 in holland... and automatics only on request

I've had lessons in the following
Golf IV first batch - too small to sit in comfortably
Golf IV 2nd batch - Just enough space to sit comfortably
Golf V - enough space to sit in... only thing is that the gain at the front is lost in the luggage part....

Eventually none of these beat our family van (T4 Transporter), especially on narrow roads
