There are ways to automate cameras. Even back in the 60s.

er - apart from Virgil 'gus' Grissom, who died trapped in a burning capsule (with 2 other astronauts) mere weeks after speaking out publicly about the inability of the space program. In fact, before the first manned Apollo flight even cleared the launch pad, a total of 11 would be astronauts were dead. Apart from the three who were incinerated, seven died in plane crashes and one in a car smash. Now this is a spectacular accident rate.

TSC. (fanning the flames)

Test pilots and astronauts led spectacularly dangerous lives back then, statistically speaking. That's hardly evidence of some dark design. Frankly., I'm amazed that only one Apollo mission met with tragedy.  And that's 11 out of hundreds of thousands. Many of the people who were closely involved and would know everything were not only not "eliminated", they're still alive and well. And not a single one of them, to my knowledge, has ever come forward and insisted it was all faked, even anonymously.
Enough already with this!! It's one of the saddest conspiracy theories I've ever heard; doesn't have a leg to stand on. The only thing keeping this one alive is an increasingly  popular desire to be cynical about government, and see cover-ups around every corner.
If we were talking about books, the solid evidence supporting the reality and success of the manned Moon missions would be like a full set of Encyclopedia Brittanica, and the easily-disproved "evidence" that it was all some sort of hoax would be like a Jehovah's Witness pamphlet.
There, see? Now you've got me started... :-/

Thats not correct though, 8 American astronauts died before the first manned Apollo flight (which was Apollo 7 in October of 1968 ).

So space travel is safe but T-38s aren't? ;D

[quote]Does anyone know if there has been a return trip to the Moon to collect the photographer who took the film of the moon lander taking off, for the return trip back to earth....?

I bet he's getting really hungry by now...

So, statistically speaking, before the last shuttle tragedy, more astronauts died in T-38s than died in space vehicles.

Thats basically the way it was, in fact-before the space shuttle program NASA never lost an astronaut during a mission (although they had lost 2 crews before the space shuttle, they were both killed during pre-mission events).

Another piece of evidence that you can use to get an idea of the life style of the astronauts is how those who are deceased died.  Very few died of natural causes even after their career ended.  Many died in plane crashes, one died in Mt. Everest, another died in a motorcycle crash at about age 70.  This tells me that these people tended to live a life on the edge and as a result they lived dangerous lives.  For these reasons, the number of astronaut deaths before and after the moon landings doesn't suprise me.

Hmm, fly in space, orbit earth, walk on the moon, survive all of that and then come home and die in a regular old car crash. That would suck.

The camera used for the take off from the moon shot could have been remote controlled too.

Buggar...!
I sent my mate Fred off to the Moon bring back the film from the camera.
He toot it to Boots the Chemist to get it developed and they said it had been spoilt due to Gamma radiation in outer space.
They also asked how Fred was...
I said he had died yesterday due to Gamma radiation from outer space, and his funeral is next Thursday.

Flowers, and a new roll of film welcome.

Paul.
