I would've bought one if given the chance.. ;)

As for uncertainty in getting somewhere and not having a ride, as we have learned in air transportation systems class you will be guaranteed a flight, eve if they have to transfer you to someone else within, or outside of their alliance groups.. ;) So fear not, and go flying more! :)

Not true.  If you read the back of your ticket, you'll find the "Contract of Carriage".  SOME airlines do guarantee air service.  Others, though, only guarantee that they will get you to your destination.  That doesn't necessarily mean by air.  On more than one occasion, weather forced us to rent a bus to drive folks from here in Albany to Newark.  It's rare, but it happens.

And since the CoC is a legally binding contract between you and the airline, it's helpful to know what it says. ;)
Great edit, Bob.

I saw one lady who bought something like six of those tickets and is using them to fly all around the east coast and midwest or something just for the frequent flyer miles.  Seemed kind of goofy to me. ::) ;D :)

It's actually pretty smart...all those miles will add up,and she'll get even more free flying.  I never would have thought to do that.  lol

Just speaking from firsthand experience at the ticket counter and having to explain to people why they're taking a bus.  lol
