Some would fall for it ...

I know better when receiving such emails, but I wonder how many others have had the folly to answer them?
I looked on the website it was so convincing with a big thing on security and all. >:(

I have received quite a few of these at recently.

A few years ago, if I had the details then, I would have done it without thinking - pretty sure. ::)
I think Banks and that should make more of an effort to show how dangerous these things are and there should be a greater awareness.

Why do people still open emails they don't recognize?  Next time you're outside, go ahead and lick the sidewalk, it's safer.
Great edit, Bob.

Google it.

Just remember guys, alot of people still are not that good with computers they dont use them that often so these things do look legit. If your not following these warnings or hearing about these stories how are you to know. Its just sad there are sacks of cr*p out there who do prey on these people.

I've gotten a few of these. One was from Ebay and was really well done saying that my account was going to be deleted if I didn't verify it immediately. I checked with Ebay and made sure someone hadn't set up an account under my name and reported the scam email to them.

What I tend to get most often however is the "Nigerian" scam email. Someone has died in some little third world country with a huge fortune and now the corrupt government is going to sieze all that money if they don't get it transferred to a US bank so please send us your bank account info so we can deposit $25,000,000 of which you get to keep a 30% handling fee.

I usually just reply with a link saying all my account details can be found on this link which directs them to the FBI webpage detailing this scam.

Just got a new one today. It says that a certain stock is going to jump 2,000% in the next 14 days. I wonder if they know that misleading publicity to artificially pump up the value of a stock is a federal crime here in the US and most other countries?
