What has the world come to?!?!?!?!

Postby Stormtropper » Thu Apr 21, 2005 11:33 am

All right, I'm still at school, so this will have to be real quick..

But anyway, I was just at lunch, and while going to Burger King, I drove past this BP gas station, where I saw about 4 people, and one of the girls had 2 baseball bats and just hit another of the girl in the head. The 2nd girl just dropped on the ground, and I don't think I saw her move again...but then that first girl went after the other 2 people...

...so I searched for my phone, trying to call a police or ambulance...

...and after I drove another block, I came upon this one Detroit Police cop car parked outside a getto imitation-7/11 place...

...so I told him "I just saw a few people beating the crap out of each other with baseball bats at a gas station a block down that way."...

...and he just replied "ok"...and then he didn't do anything...

I mean WTF? I did my duty by telling a cop about what I saw, and why the fuck didn't he do anything? Someone could've died...

I never found out what happened to them, by the time I got back to the gas station, they were all gone, along with a old chevy SUV or something...

That's sick.. were they from your school or what? Awful when people hurt each other anyway, sicker still when they have the gut to do it in broad daylight in front of others.

No, I'm from Grosse Pointe, and this was in Detroit. (there aren't many fast food restruants in Grosse Pointe)...

I'm more disgusted by the cop...they swore a oath to protect, but this one did nothing! He just sat in his car as if nothing had happened!!!

I didn't get his name or plate number, or I would've reported him!

I'd call the police department directly and report the time and location of the police car...they usually know who is where at a certain time (relatively speaking)...give them as much info as you can find, as in the officer's description, etc.  Keep us updated!
Great edit, Bob.

I'm 100% sure he didn't go, there was heavy traffic, and took me like 30 seconds to get out of the parking lot...and I had to drive another block to do a U-turn (which took about another minute)...and when I got back, he was still sitting there...

...and I might even do that Scott, but I don't know how much voice a Grosse Pointer has with the DPD...I know people who just got told "If you think Detroit is too dangerous, then don't come."

Thats crazy Jeff!!...You did the right thing and that cop had no right just to sit there like a bum. He should be fired. If it's like you described it, someone could have died.

BTW, you're 15, were you driving by yourself? ;D

a crime in itself. No 15 year old is honestly mature enough to drive, let alone by themself. Sorry.

Different states have different laws.  I'm not sure what the law is in MI, but I'm sure that Storm was complying with all applicable regulations. ;)

Since you mentioned it Craig I often wonder if that also applies to 16 year-olds. ::)

Not sure what to say about your experience Stormtropper. You did the right thing & then it was up to the cop. He could always have contacted HQ on the radio without you knowing.

Still to young. Absolute minimum should be 17, an even thats still a little young. By 18 most people have matured enough i think.

On a side note: I knew a guy from brazil, and he was appalled that the driving age in the US was 16, said that no 16 year old was mature enough to handle a car. I think he said it was 20 in his country.

Tough. I think 18 is the perfect age for driving and doing all kinds of stuff.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that 17 should be the age to drink, drive, smoke and vote.  You can enlist in the military, you should be able to come out of the field (after serving those you voted in), drive to a bar, and have a beer with a cigar to unwind, if you so choose. ;)
