Coolest Uniforms

Postby Scorpiоn » Sun Apr 17, 2005 1:57 am

Well, without a question it's not the US.  US uniforms barely even share a resemblence to a uniform.  They might be practical (though even that is debateable), but only the Marines might have a chance.  Never liked 'em tho'.  Reading about recent Japan/The-Rest-of-East-Asia tensions, and browsing the accompanying AP photo galleries, I've come to the conclusion China has the spiffiest uniforms.  Unfortunately, this is the only picture I could find where the officers weren't trying to avoid their picture being taken.  One soldier was hiding behind his clear shield. ::) :D I suppose ladies to like the attention afterall!

There's an old military truism that tells you that:

"The side with the simplest uniform wins."

I like the Russian Airforce Officer's uniforms. I have a thing for the colour blue, and the uniform is a dark blue colour. I can try to find a photo, worst case scenario I will have to ask some officer walking by my house to pose for a picture  ;D Errr...perhaps I won't do the latter  ;)

Oh please.  The Marine Corps has the sessiest uniforms in the world, hands down.   Come on, a cape for goodness' sake!

Admittedly, these are rarely worn, and the more commonly seen is the second set.  But even those are killer!

Oh if we're going for classic uniforms, it's hard to beat the Swiss Guard of Vatican fame...

I have a German millitary jacket and heavey overcoat. Their very simple, but I like them a lot. Especially the heavy coat, its the warmest thing I have ever worn.

19th century Royal Navy officers uniforms. For Captains and above I don't think it can be beaten.

Though actually, the British army redcoats also looked pretty damn smart. 8)

Speaking of silly things on uniforms, what are those black things our guys are wearing on their helmets for?

Hmmm, I doubt its nightvision, its day time after all............the army is dumb, but not that dumb ::)

It might be IR, since it looks quite like close quarters...
