[quote].......right Hagar there is still a surprising number of people around who are honest...the guy in question here for instance............."poor but honest" is the saying..........."rich but honest" (really really rich)doesn't quite have the same ring to it does it...........not in my experience anyway..............commoner

But this guy prolly hardly had anything in this world and would be unsure if he was guarenteed even a meal or clean water if things just go slightly wrong.

Sorry Ben but that's life. Who said anything about it being fair? The fact that he's poor shouldn't make any difference. He's no poorer now than before he found that cash, in fact he's $37 or whatever the richer. For all I know the chap the money belonged to had a use for it & couldn't afford a bigger reward. Unlikely perhaps but possible.

I have handed in cash to the cops a couple of times and never gotten a reward. I have never expected one as its hardly like i have done anything to really earn it.

Ben i dont mean to be rude, but you have a very naive view on how the world should be. Its not a bad thing as such but your only looking at it from one point of view here. Whos to say this money wasnt all the guy had and he was hiding it in a garbage can to keep it safe from a crooked police officer, or bank manager. There is so much bribery that this could have been the case and it was the only way he could safely keep his money.

yeah - but I was just looking at it from the point of view of a person that has little - not from the person who has by comparison a lot. Don't get me wrong I agree with you.
Oh as for handing in money or anything you find Craig you can claim it if no-one else does. My Dad found

I have nothing against those who collect it if no one claims it after a certain time. Depending on the amount, why not?
