Looks like it went up here again, on my way home the sign at the local Chevron said $2.39 for 87 octane, $2.49 for 89 octane and $2.59 for premium 92 octane.  I also heard on the radio yesterday that Oregon has the 4th highest gas prices in the country-just my luck.

I wonder how much (if any) the price is being elevated by having self-serve gas illegal here.  It's probably doesn't make much of a difference.

Ive never had anyone come out to pump my gas. If that happened I would probably think they were going to try and steal my truck, and freak out.

Oregon is one of only a few states that requires an employee of the gas station pump the gas for you.  For some reason, it's the law here.  I have heard a lot of people give different reasons for this, some say it has to do with safety issues and some say it is to allow jobs for younger people.  I don't know.

I checked on the bus this morning, here it's $2.19 at Rich and $2.29 at Sunoco for regular.  it's really a rip off at Sunoco since their "economy" is actually 86 or 85 octane, so you actually have to get premium.

Full serve now is probably more out of a means of protecting themselves against drive-offs...it's quite a problem these days.
Great edit, Bob.

Add new Jersey to that list. I think we are the only two states where it is illegal to pump your own gas. Thats why I look like a fool trying to get gas out of state :)

Our cheapest (ARCO) around here (Sacramento) is about 2.47 in good stations.

87 octane is around $2.30/gal right now. Avgas (100LL) just got raised to 3.15 a gallon. I don't know if I want a plane anymore or not haha.
