Don't even start wth that anti SUV crap... >:(
Remember, some people around here think the little compacts are retarded as well.

You know, I was think about the SUV craise and the fuel prices and I bet that there will be a huge drop in SUV sales over the nest few years.  I think the SUV craise is over.  If you think about it, there is a historic precedent for it.  In the early 1970s, the muscle car had a simular fate due to expensive gas.  I think the same may happen again.

Yeah, but while the Muscle Car may have ended, the drive for more speed and power did not.  People started making cheap economic cars, and the automotive industry went into its own dark ages, and still has not fully recovered.  The decline of American cars is directly related to this.  We are just now getting back to a point where we can compete with foreign cars and look what it has cost us.  Aside from the hundreds of thousands of jobs lost, every major American maufacturer is now owned (or some might say merged) with a foreign company.  GM is Toyota, Chrysler is Mitsubishi and Mercedes, Ford is Mazda.

Now we are building economical cars that go fast, but there are no purely American car companies left.  About the only thing out there is really is TOTALLY American is Harley Davidson.

Well for me, SUV purchases are actually on the rise.  lol Friday night and yesterday I went looking for an SUV, because I've always wanted one, and I'm in the market for some new wheels.  Found an awesome Cherokee that I'm interested in, and I also sorta liked the new Chevy Equinox.  lol

The Equinox mileage was 19/25.  Not bad.

2.25 last in Ca.
The gas "crisis" in USA has ben building since the gas shortages of the 1980's.  Fools believe Life, Liberty, Pursuit of Happiness and Cheap Gasoline.  Right there in the Preamble.
Other countries with improving economies are consuming more petrol.  In the USA no new refineries in the past 10 + years.  Not possible with EPA, State, Local, and Enviro's.  Got the pic? Increased demand due to fuel hogs and no corresponding increase in refinery capacity.  Little to do with refiners who are happy to charge more.  Fools also want to tap the national reserve.  They want to be President too.
You chose higher gasoline prices with poor MPG choices and voted for no new refienerys.  Buy bus tickets by the month.  Cheaper.  A good bike might help.

$2.15 for the cheap stuff 'round the corner, but it's still cheaper than a gallon of milk.
The only flaw in THAT analogy is that I don't buy 25gallons of milk every week.
.....so I loaded up the plane and moved to Middle-EEEE..........OIL..that is......

Yeah, some people can afford $100.00 a week for gas and are happy to pay it.
I'm not one of them.

I don't think its only a matter of being willing to pay thatr much per week is why some will keep their SUVs.  It's important to remember that some people simply need one.  For example my family does, there are 6 of us and an SUV is the only way we can travel together (other than going in 2 cars-which probably wouldn't be any cheaper).
