Hottest thread in SimV history

If it doesn't fit .. It fits here .. - -

The "what are you listening to now" (or something like that) thread was the was the hottest thread in SimV history ... Over 100 pages!
I don't know about hottest but it definitely would be the most pointless!

This thread has had over 4000 views since yesterday evening
That is what makes it a "hot" topic. At least people are discussing something here  ;D

That's because someone at SimHQ post a link to the thread to show Oleg, the games designer,
had posted in that thread to discuss his game.

The news no doubt trickled over to the Ubi boards.
So soon enough, everybody and their brother playing the IL2 series had to check it out.

I suggest this is the obvious reason & imagine 4000 views in a few hours is unusual to say the least. I'm afraid that  SilverFox is right & wouldn't let a sudden flurry of activity in one thread influence you.

Please don't open an IL2 forum. We get enough from those clowns at Ubizoo with out giving them a reason to stay here. We've all heard the CFS3 Vs IL2 argument so many times that it's stopped even being amusing. Personally I would like to see that thread locked. It's usefullness has long since expired and now it's no better than mudslinging. And I don't actually believe that that was the real Oleg Maddox visiting. It's so easy to pretend to be someone else on the internet after all.

It is also clear that not one of those new folks who posted a comment read the whole thread. For if they did then they would have realised there was little or no reason for them to comment. :P

Traced & verified ---- it is.

Please don't open an IL2 forum

& we're not talking about a forum - a section ....  the forums are a small part of Simviation.  I've sometimes been tempted to scrap them - it would make little difference to our usership (though obviously I wouldn't ;D ) ... & a lot of our forum members aren't even Simviation users ...   ::) 8)

Pete. I don't know much about IL2 or CFS3 for that matter. I think you need to think very carefully about this. Assuming IL2 is open-architecture like the M$ sims, would there be sufficient addons to warrant a section for it?
If you do have one it will inevitably lead to requests for a forum to go with it. From what I've seen in that thread & others like it, SilverFox is right & it would almost inevitably lead to conflict.

Just my 2 penn'orth.

Yeah - but it would be VERY nice to get away from purely MSFS add-ons ...  as you know!

I'm not against the idea providing there's something comparable to the M$ product. I'm not in a position to know but as far as I'm aware there isn't. The open-architecture structure was always the biggest attraction of the M$ sims for me & I suspect many others.

PS. Does it have to be aviation related? I hear MS Train Simulator is very similar & has a big following.

yeah, im all for keeping the forums up, but expanding to the competition (i leave the limits at a mac ;D). I'd like to try IL-2 at some point, cause CFS3 actually got kinda boring... guess im not a fighter pilot.

but do keep the forums up. I'd probably be twitching in a closet without the SimV forums.
