Postby jrpilot » Tue Mar 01, 2005 4:09 pm

Hello,

How much can you bench press....I ask this because me and my friends belong to a gym and we just started 2 months ago...I used to be able to get 250 lbs (113 kgs) up 5X no problem but am now down to 220 lbs (100 kgs) 5X..so just curious as to how much you can bench press..if you don't know what it is well then you probally don't lift...

remember no smart a$$ answers

Before my neck problems, i used to goto the gym regular basis, and have been working out since i was 12. Not a big person never have been, but i could easily bench 300lbs. However i havent been in a while and i only lift dumb bells and do push-ups, so with the neck problems and that, prob not 300 anymore.

well i was doing 300 and i only weighed 150lbs. Why people assume you need to be huge to be strong is beyond me. I am naturally strong, i discovered i still am when i threw my sister across the room(messing around) with one arm the other week. You can workout in two ways. One that increases size, or one that increases muscle tone. Ask your Gym teacher or a trainer at the gym for the best way for toning if you dont want to be big.

I bench 100 pounds (I'm 14) and cand dead lift 160 pounds.

But I don't work out often.

One thing you should know. You shouldnt be lifting heavy till your 16, its not good for your growth plates. And can cause injury.

My policy on lifting things is that I dont do it unless I am trapped under something.

I don't bench press. Excersise is bad for you.  I rely on nicotine to keep away illness and I look really cool when I smoke.

I concur with that statement. As a sprightly 62 year-old the most strenuous exercise I've ever done is to go for a brisk walk. Forget all this jogging, weightlifting & whatever else. There is always the risk that you could seriously injure yourself by doing it. I often look in amazement at all these fitness freaks jogging alongside the main road & covered in sweat. Not only are they jarring every joint in thier body by running on the paved surface, they're inhaling all the traffic fumes. Please don't try telling me that's good for anyone.

When it comes to fitness I reckon I could still show you youngsters a thing or two when it comes down to real physical hard graft. I've proved that many times before. ;)
