Listen to C.D players in the plane ?

Postby Ace_777 » Fri Feb 25, 2005 5:25 am

Can I listen to my C.D in the plane while its taxxing and about to takeoff ?

I'm gonna be going on a long-haul flight in a couple of weeks, and I wanna keep myself occupied. Thats why I'm compiling a list of all my tracks to listen on the plane.

probably not. Some of these package holiday carriers dont even allow them in flight. Check with the FA when you get onboard. There is music avaliable through the airlines system usually so you can listen to that during taxi and take-off.

They ask for no electronic devices during taxi and takeoff because of safety. It is the law to listen to the safety demo, i have flown many times and know it off by heart, but could still get in trouble if i didnt listen. Then on take-off, you need to be able to listen to any instructions, warnings and alarms. Plus your cd player could be a missile if you did have to stop suddenly.

Take the CD player:) in flight it should be no problem. And kills boredom. Besides i always find takeoff alot of fun so no entertainment needed.

Mobiles are banned. And the phones onboard are very expensive. ;)

I've taken my CD player with me on every flight I have ever been on.  Although I haven't been in an airplane since before all the new secuirty restrictions (I can't imagine there are any security issues with a CD player), they're probably won't be a problem.  If I remember right, they do not allow you to use them during taxi, takeoff, and landing (like Craig said)-they make a general annoucement.  Once they have reached the cruising altitude (in my experience), they make an annoucement that you can now use CD players, lap tops, ect...

I didn't realize the mobile phones were banned on planes.  When did they start doing that?  When I last flew you could have cell phones in aircraft (but I was last in an airplance in May of 2000).

I mean they are banned from use. You can have them onboard, but they must be switched off.

Yup. ;)  Unless there's a bomb in it... in which case I recommend leaving it at home.  But that's just me.
