Ugh........! >:( If there was a puke smiley here I would use it. Hate the stuff & I don't know how people can eat it. ???

My ex-wife & daughter liked Marmite, probably still do. One day my ex packed my daughter's sandwiches in my lunch box by mistake. I knew what had happened as soon as I removed the lid. I had to throw the whole contents (including some lovely looking cakes & pies) in the bin as just the smell of that foul stuff made me feel ill. I'd rather go hungry than eat it. ::)

You can say that again ! I hate marmite. First time I tasted was when I was 8..................all I can say is no 8yr old should be put through that kind of emotional stress. Marmite has left my tongue physically and mentally stressed !....................I still have the nightmares

I love it...
..or, at least I used to, until I realised just how much salt is incorporated in the ingredients... :o... :o... :o...!
So, its no good for people, like me, who suffer from high blood pressure... :'(...!

Do you realise that it is the salt in the product which gives it its distinctive taste to the tongue... :P...!

My bottle of Marmite is presently sulking in the corner of my Larder, never to be eaten by me... ::)...which is a shame... :'(...!

Cheers all...!

Paul.

P.S. It's really intended for use in stews and gravies as a colouring and flavouring agent, similar to Bisto... 8)...!
Spreading it on bread/toast is an alternative option... ;)..!

It's the other ingredients that worry me. Nothing that's good for you could possibly smell that 'orrible. :o

I daresay Ace's Mum has a companion for it sulking in her larder. ;)

O.k Ben lemme give you the 411.

[quote]Marmite is dark brown-colored savory spread made from the yeast that is a by-product of the brewing industry. It has a very strong, slightly salty flavor. It is definitely a love-it-or-hate-it type of food.
It comes in small (2-5 inches high) bulb-shaped glass jars with a distinctive yellow lid.
Children in Britain are generally fed it from the time they are weaned, and most never grow out of it. It has a high B-vitamin content, as well as riboflavin and niacin
