My Athlon 64 has done a good job so far.
I 'm satisfied, but I'm sure an equivalent P4 would've done the job just as good  :)

My P4 (2.65G) runs nicely, but i'm willing to upgrade wither to a P4HT Xtreme or AMD 64 FX. either are fine for me.

I have an AMD Athlon 64 FX-55 in my Alienware.... but have a dual Intel Xeon in my new custom PC. They are both extremely good.

That depends on what the computer is for...if you're doing videp or photo-editing (and for some reason, can't or won't get a Mac),  then the P4 is what's suggested.

However, for gaming, and building your computer, the AMD delivers performance that is so close to the P4 that you won't notice the difference (but you will notice the extra $500 in your wallet).  ;)
