Martha Stewart to Host TV Show

For those of you who don't know who Martha Stewart is, she is an American celebrity who had her own home & arden show all about cooking, gardening, etc. and also a line of towels and other home products.  It was funny because on the show she appeared so calm, but people said that behiond the scenes she was a very mean person who yelled at her employees a lot.  Recently, she was convicted of making stock market trades with illegal knowledge not available to other investors and shee's serving time in prison...

She's been the focus of lots of jokes because of this so its funny to see that she's going to have a show on a major network like NBC

Its amazing how quick time flys sometimes, although i bet she doesnt think so:) I remember her sentancing being the big news topic when iw as in the US last summer. It only feels like yesterday. Dont know why shes doing the TV gig, she doesnt need the money or publicity.

I wouldn't put too much stock in the stories about her being a mean person...

Nor was I impressed with her prosecution...to quote Eric Idle:

Enron, Halliburton, all the companies that fail.  Let's send them a clear message and stick Martha straight in jail.  She's an upity rich b****, and at least she isn't male

Seriously, look at what Enron and Tyco executives fleeced from their companies (millions).  The amounts that Martha was alleged to have gained through insider trading was really a drop in the bucket...

I don't think thats why she want to jail.  She went to jail for purgery (thats probably mispelled-but what I mean is she lied about knowing anything under oath).  Had she not done that she probably only would have been fined.

Surprising that people would want to go on a show thats supposed to teach successful business practices while the host spent a year or two in jail

I would still argue that charging Martha was to distract the public from the fact that Ken Lay, and the exec from Tyco are both still free...
