And of course, aviation history.

Last year I had a teacher try to tell me all the wrong things about aviation history.  I straitened him out so much, he drove strait away from the school at the end of the year.  Its safe to say  that I embarressed him in class everyday when I corrected him

Absoloutly everything regarding history and its people interest me.  But what is concerning is the lack of people doing art history, which is not just looking at paintings but instead trying to understand the people of the time.. at school at the moment there is alot of interest for history

cheers

Hahaha yea mosquito, art history is a good subject but most people have other commitments to other subjects, in my opinion they should have brought the subject in sooner so people didnt have as many commitments!

I love history yes i do! i een went on a history field trip to Europe to explore my knowlege of World War One and world War Two, and it was fantastic. We can learn so much from our past and i think it should be compulsory. But what i want to study is English History and no more of our native nz history which does not range but 1 and a half century's. Everyone should learn history and be proud to know it!!!!

Cheers

History is very interresting but we must remember that a lot of history textbooks, or so I have heard are spun in certain ways that distort the facts.  When studying history, never rely on one single source for your information but cross reference everything with multiple sources and then sort out what logically was the facts. I love the History Channel but my wife just doesn't get it.  But, what can be learn from the past can be applied today in so many different ways.

of technology in class.

THAT is an interesting field in and of itself!  (Emphasis mine)

I guess I would like all history as I love doing Genealogies and tracing my family history back as far as possible. Seem to be stuck in the 1192 as to the oldest ancestor. I love researching the times of each person and discovering what their time in history was like and how they lived.

Let us not forget the 70s. We sure don't want to repeat
that.

You were obviously in league with Queen Boadicea to keep Omag and his warring tribes out of Britain... ;)...!

Yeah right! The mighty Belgians/Flemmish... ::)

We oce were occupied by ( in no particular order): The French, The Dutch, The Spanish, The Austrians, The Germans, ... Do I need to say more?

As for my personal past? I have dark brown hair, so at least one sneaky Spannish soldier took advantage of a lovely Flemmish virgin beeing my great-great-great-great-grandmother, way back during the 1600's    ;)

Anyhow! I am interested in almost everything about history, providing it isn't a boring collection of dates and names. Give me a wider view on things and I am hooked!

One of my daughter's high school US history books showed the FLOW of peoples rather than a recounting of dates/events.  It's interesting to view events as a function of WHO came to the US, and WHEN rather than events "suddenly" popping into the scene.

See, that approach is a lot better according to me! To get the big picture is far more rewarding than knowing the date a certain battle was fought or a bill was signed. It's a part of it ofcourse, but just a part, not the whole deal on it's own...

This leads back to what I said earlier.
I think it's a complete waste of time teaching history in school unless the teacher is passionately interested in the subject & makes it interesting for the pupils. I wouldn't have minded someone like our Felix as my history teacher.

I think Felix missed his vocation. I expect he gets more satisfaction from it as a hobby rather than teaching a bunch of schoolkids that don't appreciate his talents. Probably finds his current profession more financially rewarding too. ::)

Hi Woody... ;D...!

You were obviously in league with Queen Boadicea to keep Omag and his warring tribes out of Britain... ;)...!

They still annoy us to date, via the SimV Forums... ::)...!
LOL...!

Cheers Woody... ;D...!

Paul....busy keeping Dan and the rest of the Welsh out of the Kindom of Mercia... ;)...!
LOL...!

Thats right. Though back then we called her Boadicca. Though our main concern then was keeping the Kingdom of Wessex on the right side of the river Tamar. ;D

Are you certain of that Woody? It was always Boadicea in my day, pronounced Bo-diss-ear. Boudicca, Boudica or whatever seems to be a modern interpretation. I've only seen it spelled/pronounced like this in recent years.I always thought this was just another one of those trendy theories with no basis in fact. They seem to like messing around with everything these days. ::)

Many people suspect that I actually knew her. I emphatically deny that although I wouldn't be surprised if Fozzer was closely acquainted. ;D
