Wow some of the earlier replies (minus the rhino ::) ;D ;D) to this topic are very interesting to read :)
It is always amazing to see how people react to these types of questions, especially when considering how everybody in SimV comes from totally unique backgrounds, beliefs, parts of the world, etc...
Thank you Romulos for starting this thread, its really been cool seeing what everyone's opinions on this topic are. :)

In the end, we will all find out who is right and who is wrong. This is a certainty.

If I've wasted a mere lifetime with my beliefs, then so be it. I'll be but a memory.

But if I've gained an eternity with my beliefs, then I've gained everything. I'll be in Heaven.

I couldn't have said it better, and I think that sums up all of my beliefs on this topic ;)
Why live without a purpose when you have the chance to spend eternity in paradise!? ;)
Those are my views and Im not trying to offend anyone by saying them :)

p.s.- the langoliers was a really good movie- I think I might have been afraid of meatballs for a couple days after seeing it! lol :D

Well, some believe in reincarnation.  Your next life is determined by how you live in this one (as what happens to you in this life may be determined by how you lived in a previous life).

For example, if you were a cruel master of slaves in a previous life, you may be reborn as a slave.

I take no offence at your statement, just please allow those of us who think differently the same courtesey! ;)

I was thinking this one over, i've kinda smacked into the conclusion that there is no afterlife, IMHO. If we were are put on this planet by 'god' to serve a purpose , dont we die when we outlive our purpose? Why must we die to get into heaven? Why don't we just live forever? How come theres no prelife? Why did 'god' put us in a machine we don't know how to use. Why doesn't 'god' answer my questions but rather, points us / me down an ambiguous trail, especially since the devil, and other humans mine your path with subterfuge and deception? Is god always there? Sometimes cruel things happen and it seems that god can be directly implicated, I didn't deserve to have my uncle die next to me at 4...and why don't I have my own room, i'm 14! Not good :-/

"dont we die when we outlive our purpose?" - Not necessarily, I've got a half-brother and an ex-wife that is proof of that.  ;D

"Why must we die to get into heaven?"- Because the second coming hasn't happened yet.

"Why don't we just live forever?"- We will after the second coming.

"How come theres no prelife?"- Interesting thought, If there were, would we remember? ???

"Why did 'god' put us in a machine we don't know how to use."- Not really sure if I'm understanding this one. If you mean life- I would imagine if we knew everything about it at the start. That would take all the mystery out of it and make it rather boring.

"Why doesn't 'god' answer my questions"- He does, all you need do is listen. He way not answer it in a way you'd expect...like through speech, but in a way totally unexpected.

"since the devil, and other humans mine your path with subterfuge and deception?"- Anything worth having is always hard fought. You are given the power of freedom of will and you are given tests to see how you handle them. To see if you can recognize the "Deceptions" and deal with them correctly.

"Is god always there?"- Yep, 24/7/365

"Sometimes cruel things happen and it seems that god can be directly implicated"- Bad/cruel things happen to good people as well as evil people. God doesn't necessarily cause them, but permits them to happen to teach a lesson that you might not otherwise learn.

"I didn't deserve to have my uncle die next to me at 4." - I know the feeling- I've had men I was talking to one minute be dead the next. It is a very weird feeling.

"and why don't I have my own room"- I'm afraid that one is a question to ask your parents. Just be thankful you have a home, food on the table and clothes to wear. Their are millions of children that don't.  :'(

yea, it seems that dieing's not the problem...its getting there thats the problem...........i can just imagine a group of souls hanging around reminising their death .....i was blown up by mt vesuvius...i went down with the titanic......i slipped on a banana peel.........anyways, the way i understand it is that its a matter of consciousness, and being truly conscious is the ultimate experience. ....to experience god is to be fully conscious, as i understand that god is all consciousness and bliss and we are drops in the ocean of all consciousness. so religion and spirituality are two different things ......spirituality deals with experience ...religion mostly with belief. a religious person can be very spiritual, but sometimes we see religious people who seem unkind, and unbelievers who seem very loving and kind. i think love and bliss is inate in our soul, and to search for it is a good use of a life. i think that a person who is more conscious is little concerned about how or when he dies. ...gee i hope this wasn't too heavy for anyone.........thanks,       vic.

It was Isaac Asimov who said : "Life is pleasant. Death is peaceful. It's the transition that's troublesome."

Many interesting comments, peacefully shared. This ain't a Yahoo board, that's for sure!!
Like Robert Heinlein, I believe that "There is no conclusive evidence of life after death. But there is no evidence of any sort against it. Soon enough you will know. So why fret about it?"
My gut tells me that what we call the end of life is not the end. What exactly happens, where the self goes, what state it's in- I have no idea. I'm in no hurry to find out, because there's only one absolutely conclusive way to do that, and I like being alive... I'm not a member of any organized religion, but I feel my life has a wonderful primary purpose (among many): to learn about life.
I certainly don't feel in my gut that we're here to obey certain rules in order to secure better status in some afterlife,or that we should only exercise goodwill out of fear of divine retribution. And I don't believe any living person who tells me they know what lies beyond the veil, or what I should do now to make my situation more pleasant on the other side.
