I believe what the bible says, that righteous ones will be resurrected to eternal life in Paradise, and unrighteous, unrepentant ones will simply cease to be.

......Perhaps we modern people take the mystery out of a lot of things, but I feel we get a clearer and truer vision on the world...

..definately...!
After thousands of years of evolution, and studying the sciencies, it's about time that we got used to the fact that there is no such thing as "Fairies", Magic", etc... ;)...!
...all very well to keep us happy and contented, but not very well blessed in actual fact... ;)... ;D...!

Cheers all... ;D...!

We're wasting our time Foz. I knew that when I first replied to this thread as I'm sure you did. I should have known better but decided it was about time I gave my opinion. Nobody can prove anything either way so it's pointless arguing. As far as I'm concerned everyone is entitled to believe whatever they wish. I've heard all the same old arguments many times before. It's not as if anything in this thread will change my mind any more than anything I say will change anyone else's. I'm old enough to make up my own mind & fortunately live in a country where I'm allowed to believe what I wish without fear of persecution. In fact, the older I get the more convinced I am that I'm right. The difference is that I don't try converting anyone to my beliefs.

Let's say for a moment that there is a heaven, what do you suppose the activity list is going to be like, do you just float around and play your harp or whatever? Because as we all know, anything that is fun is considered evil or wrong in some way.

My thoughts on death are: I dont know what will happen after I die. I dont know if there is a heaven or hell, or reincarnation. I doubt it. I guess Ill find out when the time comes. Just in case there is absolutely nothing, I have a bunch of things I want to experience while Im still alive. I tend to agree more with Fozzer and Hagar.

BTW, Beefhole, Straightdope is awsome. I asked Ceicel how they get the caffien out of coffee to make decaf. He never anwsered.

Instead, I look at the miracles that happen every day around us, and I embrace them for what they are. Spend a day working in an Emergency Room, and you'll come out of there with a much firmer set of beliefs. ;)

This has been rather fascinating to read. It is quite interesting the narrow view points of some that don't wish their non-belief challenged. But get upset that their views are ignored just as fervently as the views they ignore. To the best of my knowledge, I have not tried to change anyone's beliefs. If this is the way stating my views has been interpreted, I apologize. But the way people immediately jump on my posts to try and discredit them. Then I see many posts that use profanity and even take the Lords name in vain, with little or no comment. I see posts of very obscene topics (jokes) and nothing is said. There seems to be an under lying double standard being used.

I have over the course of several postings noticed an inconsistency among non-believers. They deny there's a God, but offer Biblical principals (i.e.: Do unto others). They deny God, but wish to meet Satan (Lucifer). There is no Heaven, but they'd like to got to hell (where all the "cool" people will be). Does this inconsistent behavior stem from doubts on the part of the non-believer, that possibly they may be wrong?

Just as all things in life there are opposites. Darkness is the absence of light. Cold is the absence of heat. Evil is the absence of goodness. Death is the absence of life. Hell is also defined as the absence of life. So how is it possible to deny the existence of one and believe in the other?

I have been on this forum since May 2nd, 2002. I have tried to offer thought provoking postings and a bit of humor (ok, I admit some bad humor at times). I feel that there is no point in making any further postings on this forum if my views offend so many people.

I bid you all goodbye and a happy life.

Romulus. I hope nothing I said offended you enough to drive you away from this forum. Jumping on you to discredit your beliefs was certainly not my intention. I've said many times before & I repeat it: As far as I'm concerned everyone is entitled to their own views, providing they don't try to force them down my throat, convert me to their way of thinking or misguidedly assume that their beliefs make them somehow better than me. Please do me the courtesy of respecting my beliefs as I respect yours. You asked for my views on death & I told you. I hesitated before doing so as this subject is still controversial which invariably leads to conflict. You must have known this before posting this topic. In fact this thread seems to me a perfectly civilised discussion as I would expect on this forum.

I've never given my views on religion before & this is the last time I shall do so. I might add that most religious people I've met are the narrow-minded ones, not the "unbelievers" who usually keep quiet for fear of being ridiculed or causing offence. Did you ever consider that you might possibly be wrong? I resent being classed as a typical "unbeliever". There are many different categories & I prefer to consider myself a realist. This does not make me a worse person that anyone else or some sort of barbarian. In fact I'm probably far less hypocritical & have higher moral standards than many regular churchgoers. I might not believe in religion per se but I still live my life by Christian principles. The Ten Commandments is a good basis for a civilised society & common to most religions.

Our opinions on this topic are two extremes colliding. And the both of us don't want their opinions challenged in any ways. But I've regarded your post as a challenge for my point of view, so I've responded with mine. From what I've seen your point of view is as narrow minded as mine. Seems like the both of us is lacking a certain bit of acceptance for the opinion of the other side.

But the way people immediately jump on my posts to try and discredit them. Then I see many posts that use profanity and even take the Lords name in vane, with little or no comment.

a) I have never tried to discredit your posts; see the explanation above.

b) Maybe the lord is of little importance to those people?

I have over the course of several postings noticed an inconsistency among non-believers. They deny there's a God, but offer Biblical principals (i.e.: Do unto others). They deny God, but wish to meet Satan (Lucifer). There is no Heaven, but they'd like to got to hell (where all the "cool" people will be). Nope. I for myself just tried to get on the more 'common' level when speaking of a life after death. And I've got to admit that provocation also played a little role.

Just as all things in life there are opposites. Darkness is the absence of light. Cold is the absence of heat. Evil is the absence of goodness. Death is the absence of life. Hell is also defined as the absence of life. So how is it possible to deny the existence of one and believe in the other?

See above.

I've stayed out of this.
1) I knew my arguments would not be accepted and I don't want to upset people. I'd rather people like me and not know my views. But you all know here I don't swear or blaspheme. I add it grieves me to see others doing this. - Especially since everyone agreed to this on joining up:

2. Please refrain from using offensive language or a 'put down' attitude. Simviation is a friendly & 'good attitude' site! We have a reputation for positivity & helpfullness. If this does not appeal to you - take a hike now. :)

11. Please use proper English (though other languages are also permitted). I.E. Please avoid language like 'r' for 'are, 'u' for 'you', etc.. & please make an effort to punctuate. If you don't know what that means - find out! :)

& Please don't be put off by all these 'Rules'... they are here just to try to keep out those people that bring forums down with insults & rude behaviour. Once a member - you will find us a friendly & helpful little crowd.

Now! Tell me if this doesn't mean swearing and blaspheming other's religeons or rubbishing their views when presenting their own, what in the world does it mean? it should be pretty obvious that what is most important to people should be pretty well in this class. People's religious views should not be trashed in any way. Even aethiests believe in a religeon. Their religeon is no God and faith in theory of evolution from which there still is no proof for. It is still just a theory.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding these rules - but I consider it at the highest level of rudeness/unkindness/offensive language for people to offend me in this way.

2) Romulous don't leave! There are always people with differing opinions and posting such a thread will surely bring them out! Do stay and just hover around like I do - and enjoy being part of the flight simming world.

Ben :)
