Charlie could you post the names please, my dad knows quite a few lynx pilots from yeovil but i havent spoken to him since the incident, and now he's moved to manchester i dont know what info he gets from yeovil

The names are on the BBC news website.

I don't really understand why an aircraft from Yeovil was scrambled to do a search and rescue when there was an FAA SAR squadron based at Culdrose which was less than 50 miles from the incident.

The following is the latest press release from the MOD site:

That explains all my questions. It also shows how much military activity there is in the Channel... I know the RN is based in Plymouth but that's still a lot of warship.
