Wow, that's really strange.  It is unusual for a hospital not to keep track of their people like that...

Sounds like a prime candidate for an episode of Touched by an Angle.

I belive in Angels, ghost (have seen one personally)and what has happened just might be the all the proof you needed to fully belive yourself!
"Andrew" had made sure your family had one more chance of saying goodbye, and just from what you said there is no apparent other explaination.
So think of this anway you want but you just experianced what is known as a "Religious experiance". Some might doubt but you'll realize sooner or later ;)

Weather they are really out there is a question i am reluctant to answer, but hey, look at it this way:

If they do: good for us, someone is watching over us

If they don't: Andrew sure made the sad times a bit easier to cope with.

It's a win-win situation...

But on the "unnatural" phenomena i would have to say that doesn't exsist. Something that happens on this earth is always natural. It's just some people don't see it that way. Take flying. several hundred years ago an airplane would have been considered "unnatural". Nowadays it's completly "natural", cause everyone knows what makes a plane fly...

There is just so much still do be discovered out there, keep that in mind...

I believe...

The night my father died I drove home from North Bay to Toronto (about 350 KM). It was snowing that night and visibility was severely reduced. I was about halfway home when I saw a shadowy figure standing in the lane ahead of me...I swerved to avoid him and did a double-take. It was my father! As my attention returned forward I noticed a snow-covered 18-wheeler stalled in the lane I had been driving in...it wasn't visible in it's condition until I was far to close to avoid hitting it had I not changed lanes.

Weird enough...but when I got home my mom told me she had been worried about me driving on such a bad night but dad had told her I would be OK, he would watch out for me. I hadn't told her of my experience yet.

Stranger still, it never did occir to me that I should stop to pick up my father...middle of nowhere, stormy night and him dressed in a suit.

I've always wondered about that night.

I guess we shall live with faith that someone is always there to watch out for us...:-)
