What do you make of this...>>>

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/3882261.stm

Now I expect a lot of people may agree with it....?
But read further...>>>

....."Protection would extend to creatures such as insects, slugs, worms and butterflies if it can be proved they suffered pain and distress".......

I'm a bit worried about digging my garden now in case I slice a worm in half and get my collar felt by an officer of the law..... :'(...!

It gets dafter by the minute... ;)...!

Cheers all...!

Paul....(hiding the slug pellets... ::)....)....!

You'd better watch out then on yr motorbike Fozzer. Two offenses eh? Speeding over slugs! ::) :o
Shock and horror! Cruelty to slugs!!! :o :o

Lol! What a joke!! ;D

As far as I'm concerned the Prevention of Cruelty to Slugs Brigade can just shut up and stop being so ridiculous! ::)

Hi, Paul, :)

I understand that a saucer of beer is supposed to be an excellent slug trap...  They're attracted to the smell, take a few sips, get a little woozy, get out in it and drown :D.....  If you get pinched, you could say you were just trying to help the little blighters have a happy evening...   It might help if the officer sees you trying to give them mouth-to-mouth resuscitation  :P.

....I suppose poor Scania will have to stop every few miles and wash the evidence from his windshield/screen... ;)

Seriously, this will tend to make people write off real animal cruelty as more air-headed nonsense and be an overall setback to the cause.

Cheers,

Doug,  watching my step ;)

I'm sure Fozzer that you'll be fine as long as you say to the officer "Honest sir! He never knew what hit him!"

I mean, how will they prove that you caused them pain and distress? :)

I'm sure Paul McCartney is to blame for this in some way, shape, or form.

According to them, us Canadians are all serial killers. Look at all the bugs we kill in cold blood against our windshields just driving up North during blackfly season.  ;D

From the amount of goo I had to clean off the prop, bracing wires & everywhere else you can think of after every flight the good old Tiger Moth (aeroplane not insect) is one of the most efficient serial bug-killers I know. ;)

While we're on the subject does anyone know of a good way to destroy an ant's nest - permanently? I have one right underneath my floor-mounted gas boiler & it's almost time for my annual invasion of millions of the pesky things. >:( I've tried everything I can think of apart from swamping them with petrol & setting light to it. This might be a tad dangerous due to the proximity of said gas boiler. ::)

Perhaps Foz could send his friendly gasman to come & have a look. He might not be able to suggest anything but I could chat him up for a flip in his little aeroplane. ;D

I've told you before Hagar, quicklime!!! Either that or get your vacuum cleaner and stick the nozzle down the hole and turn it on. ;D

Ah quicklime. ;D I haven't tried that. Thanks for reminding me Woody. ;D

get your vacuum cleaner and stick the nozzle down the hole and turn it on.

I'm a tad nervous about trying that. I reckon it must be a big ant's nest by now & that's an understatement. Humungous would be a better description. If I suck that much stuff into the vacuum cleaner I have visions of my house disappearing down a bloomin' great hole. :o ;D

If Fozzer gets a Moto-X bike then we'll know he's committing genocide in the garden ;D
Hagar another method (recommended to me by a friend) is good old LPG. Pump some down and leave it, they suffocate... personally I just whack boiling water down there and then lots of ant-killing powder once its dried out ;D ;D ;D

Isn't there Amdro in Britain?  Or anything like it?  Little workers take it right to the queen ant and... plop!  No more nest! ;)
