meh CD's aren't a huge improvement over vinyls in my opinion. They may be double the length but I guarantee they won't last as long.

But when was the last time you tried to burn your favorite aircraft files to vinyl?   ;D ;D ;D ;D

I actually prefer listening to music from vinyl, but I disagree about the cd not lasting as long as a record. Here is a test,
Play your favorite vinyl album 100 times in a row
now play that same album recorded on cd 100 times in a row.
You tell me which one sounds better ;)

Not sure about the longevity issue. Suppose it depends how each is treated and looked after, but I imagine the fact that CD's don't have any 'surface contact' (it's a laser), they would play more times before wearing - I only suppose as I don't know much about it.

One thing I must say though. The quality of digital sound over that of analogue is so superior, it would outweigh any other advantage vinyl might have. There's just no comparison.
;D;D ;)

I personally would vote the cellular phone. Saves SO many problems & has brought comms to a new level - though has also brought emotional polution to a new level as we have to be invaded by other peoples conversations everywhere we go these days -  ::)

Being a single dad though with a fairly busy social life I couldn't live without mine & I wouldn't  have the busy social life as I'm not the most punctual of ..... people ...  ;)

It should be caseless bullets but work on the technology has ground to a halt lately. :'(

One ponders, however, how many of these inventions/developments were by mad Englishmen fleeing for better weather?  I guess we'll never really know for sure....

Felix has a point. Something like over 50% of the most world altering inventions were invented in the united kingdom. So even if we didn't have them, there's a good chance we invented it. ;D
