Well with some of our US member commenting on their gas prices rising with the UK members also commenting on how high our prices are. Now its our turn to comment on the new rises in prices.

   Wow, that is just terrible. I thought prices were bad over here. And you guys are still paying per Litre (Liter  :P) but the article said about $5.79 a gallon. That's twice as bad as here. On a side note, how do you get the "pound" sign. Is it default on the keyboard, is it on the #4?  ;)

Nope, we are in litres here. - the UK. It is the older generation that like everything converted to gallons. I just can't figure out why they should be so high... its just unbelievable.
As for the pound sign don't you guys have it on your keyboard as shift 3?  All the keyboards we have, have the pound sign as Shift 3 and the dollar as Shift 4.

Maybe not - for the time being anyway. I heard this on the news this morning. Increasing production should bring the price down. We shall see.

Opec meets to tackle oil output

Members of oil producers' group Opec are meeting in Beirut to discuss boosting production by up to 11%, in a bid to lower the soaring price of oil.

Persuading the Government to reduce tax would be a better option.......out of a litre at current prices the government takes 63p in tax ...... 20p to the oil companies and something round about 1-2p for the retailer. Couple that with Road tax, congestion charges (London), tolls (Humber bridge, Mersey tunnels, Skye bridge and Birmingham M6 relief), parking charges speeding fines and once again the easy target motorist is paying. Considering that 90% of the freight in the UK is carried on the roads then its a wonder we can afford to live never mind just surviving. I for one will be out their with the protesters should there be something organised.

Last night, two local petrol stations were still chrging 80p per Ltr. I have to fill up today (didn't have my card with me last night) and you can bet they have both gone up this morning. Most expencive round here is currently 85p whilst most are around 83p.
Without wanting to fuel a political debate, I think it's time for Mr. Brown to announce he is scrapping, or at least putting off, the 2p tax increase he has imposed for September or he runs the risk of a new round of petrol protests and I don't think that is in anyones best interest.

over here, on the west side of the pond/moat, we do not call our fuel just gas. It is called gasoline, which we shorten by just typing gas, as most people will get that you are paying 2 dollars a gallon on petroleum/fuel rather than oxygen or such
