Eurofighter rumor.

Postby eno » Tue May 25, 2004 11:41 am

I caught a bit of a news item today about the Eurofighter ........ It seems its suffereing from the same malaise as the Chinnooks .......... It wont be able to fly in fog ..... As I've said this was  just part of a news item so I could have it all wrong.

I've tried to find out more on this but aint had much time because I've been working today ......Maybe Craig/ Ozzy will be able to find more they seem to be the super sleuths on this type of item.

cheers

I read something about this in the Sun* this morning.
http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2004240980,00.html
While nothing surprises me any more I would treat it with the same contempt as their other "news" stories. They usually manage to get the date right but that's about all. ::) :o

*PS. I don't buy it & usually only look at the pretty pictures. :D

Last I heard she won't be flying to 2007 earliest due to various cock-ups.

well there are tons of mistakes in that report so go with hagars advice there. Firstly its been prooven the Typhoon can go into combat and it beat a pair of F-15's  in the process. the apaches, theres nothing wrong with their computers, that was the chinooks. I will continue to dig.

OK done some asking around. Apparently the problem isnt as bad as is being reported and wont delay the entry to service. Or isnt expected to, its a minor problem that could in future could cause problems such as ground systems being activated in flight but nothing dangerous. A simple software fix will be needed and wont cost the tax payers to much.

I fail to be surprised by any stories about the state of our national defence these days. By the time Typhoon is up and running the rest of the world will be flying warp powered star ships with photon torpeedos whilst our crappy airoplane does not even have a gun or operational missile system. If the cold war were still "hot" Soviet tanks would now be driving down Whitehall.

Humbug.

The first Eurofighters were put into service by the Luftwaffe and I've heard nothing bad about them yet. It has cost us a lot of money, but at least we've got an aircraft to be proud of.  8)

Well, we had a nice display from one of the 17 Sqn planes at Cranwell the other day, and it flew in cloud too...
