The girls are worse than the boys nowadays. All they can think of as punishment is curfews & anti-social orders (whatever that might be). I have to wonder how they think they can enforce this. The police complain they are shorthanded as it is. I haven't seen a local bobby around here this year.

Curfews, anti gang laws. Waste of time. You should try to do what we do here in Canada. Absolutely nothing!  ;D Yes absolutely nothing costs absolutely nothing so it's cheap. You don't have to make more jails for youth criminals or step up police patrols.

At least the place where I live is still pretty tame. We did have a problem with petty youth crime a while back but it seems to have gone away. Toronto is getting really bad like I said before.

kind of sounds like where i live.  there is a little group of about five 7 to 8 year olds that tend to do quite a bit of destruction around our area.  they have bashed in peoples garage doors, took a metal rod and jammed it through a neighbors airconditioner, and tend to set of fireworks at all hours of the day and night.  just the other day they were setting off bottle rockets in their yard.  one of them ended up hitting one of our new windows,  ripped the screen and cracked the glass.  we called the police to report it and have them pay for it.  they just told us that they can not do anything about it untill their is proof that the kids were the ones to acualy do it....   Reality check >:(  theres been several problems with many people on our street and a few thousand dollars damage to property and the police wont do anything about it........... WTF    

all i can say is that the police in some of our areas need to take some action before something happens...........

In SA those kids would have been beaten or worse for something like that! I had a similar thing happen once but I took pictures of the kids doing it and showed them, to their parents and the police, it did not stop. I have a dog that is very big and has gotten out a couple times, luckily If the dog does get out and the kids get bitten it is not legally my fault since my property is posted with beware of dog and private property signs, as well as a 4' outer fence. I hope they don't get bitten though because even in a set case of the court my lawyer is not cheap.

Personally I think this whole situation comes back to the parents. Nowdays everyone is afraid of spanking and punishing their children. It has gotten so bad here that most parents are afraid of giving their kids a "time out". When I was a kid we got spanked, no time outs, no standing in a corner, just a good old fashioned spanking.
If parents would actually punish their children this world would probably be a better place. Everyone wants to blame music and tv and video games but it all really goes back to bad parenting skills.
I work in a grocery store and see people come in with their kids screaming and yelling and doing whatever they want every single day. If I would have even thought about doing something like that my dad would have pulled off his belt and beat me right then and there. If the parents dont teach the kids right from wrong and dont discipline them then this world will only get worse.

Craig, if you can't beat the kids then go find the parents and beat them  ;D

Personally I think this whole situation comes back to the parents.

This seems obvious to everyone except those in authority.

Things might look bad but I should point out that most youngsters, those around here anyway, are well-behaved, polite & respectful. They're much like I was at their age. As usual, it's the minority that grabs the headlines & tars all the others with the same brush. The parents of the troublemakers are probably as bad, if not worse than they are so it's a waste of time expecting them to do anything about it. These kids usually have older siblings. If I were to threaten them or take any sort of revenge they would most likely come round in the middle of the night & trash my car or break into my home. It might be difficult but sometimes discretion is the better part of valour.

At least those in power seem to be aware of the problem - at last.......! It's taken long enough to convince them & I have no idea what they intend doing about it or if their methods will work any better than they usually do.

If I were you craig, I would just run them over with my car (when I get one). Here in the states, its the pedestrians fault if they get run over and they weren't crossing the street at a pedestrian crossing.

That is totally false!
Pedestrians have the "right of way" no matter what the situation!
Also in the US if those kids get hurt on your property you can be sued even if they are trespassing, amazing you can be held responsible for any harm that may come from someone who isn't suppose to be there!
If I was you Craig I would throw some stones of my own, knock one of the brats upside the head with one, then when the law comes make them prove you threw it! They wouldn't be able too, so you should have no worries.
As far as them suing me for thier brats getting hit upside the noggin, go for it won't get nothing from me, besides a bunch of bills  ;)

Another "fun" and unharmful thing to do is get a squirt gun and fill it with "Skunk scent" (the stuff hunters use to hide thier human scent form thier prey) sit by the window and wait for them to get close and squirt away Trust me that smell doesn't come off easy!!! I have done this before and it is quite funny!!!

Wouldn't recommend that!!! A BB gun is considered a firearm and is thought about the same as a 9mm the way the law sees it!!!
If you have a WalMart around you can find the "Scent" there!
And again no way to prove that the kids weren't playing with the "pretty little kitty"

Ok this is ridiculous. I have a group of kids outside my house who have twice run up and thrown stones against the car and window. The main problem is the one doing to worst of it is barely 7 years old.The others with him are maybe 15 at most. If it wasnt for the fact i cant afford any form of criminal investigation i would go out there and show the little Sh*ts the true meaning of respect. The police wont come out till they get more complaints. You watch though i go out there they would be right round
This world has gone to hell. Had i done this when i was a kid i would have gotten an ass kicking from the people i was terrorising and rightly so.

The exact same thing happens here, we have these four kids around here 11-16, they do the same thing. What i did, was take my get on my Igil ( a turkish horse breed ), and ride up to them. I showed my horse the whip, and she freaked out right next to them, scaring the s#%^ outta them. Well, i'm not sure if you have a horse, lol, but try something like that, - might work
