Im surprised nobody has made an aircraft like nasa used for their scram jet tests. in fs form , It was probably concieved in britain ,but didn,t get backing off the government, and ended up in america, like everything else.

Op I believe that it was largely US and Australian work, although a number of British scientists were involved.
As for making one, if you want to see one then post something in the Aircraft Wanted forum, I'm sure that someone somewhere is already making one 8)

Ozzy

Ps. Agreed that the British government are tighter than a ducks bottom when it comes to giving money to worthy projects :( :( :(

I wouldn't think the M$ flight model is suitable for anything like this. ::)

.....the UQ scramjet will be the fastest air-breathing engine ever built. It is estimated to fly at about Mach 7.6 or 2.4km/sec, or 8600km/hour.

I've got one fitted in my lawn mower... ;D...!
The lawn is mown in approximately 0.000001 sec which gives me plenty of time to get back to 'simming again.. ;D...!
LOL...!

Paul.

P.S. I would like to fit one to my bike, but I prefer to keep all bodily bits and pieces firmly sat on my saddle when the traffic lights turn to green...... ;)...!
LOL...!

I can see a slight snag with your cunning plan Foz. I think this scramjet thingy has to be going at some fantastic speed before you can light the blue touchpaper. ::)
Unless you have a supersonic lawnmower I don't think it would be much use. ;)

I would pay good money to see Fozzer being dragged around his garden by a hypersonic lawnmower. LOL ;D

Hi Doug...!
I'm up for anything to introduce some hilarity into the Forum... ;D...!

...starting hypersonic scram-jet lawnmowers...?
Remind me again...blue touch paper or pull toggle on the end of a length of string...?
I've always had problems with bleedin' magnetos... :'(...!

LOL...LOL...LOL...!

Paul..... ;D...!

Better wear those motorcycling leathers Foz. Don't forget the goldfish bowl to protect your head. :o

Oh, one more thing. Please point it anywhere but south before you light the touchpaper.  I had my hair cut only 2 days ago. The general direction of Wales would be a good choice. 8) ;D

Hi Craig...!
How did you guess...?
Fozzer flying around 'Frisco Bay in his comfy armchair, slippers on, reading the "Radio Times", and clasping a can of Fosters Special Brew... 8)...!

How's that for laid-back, comfortable flying... ;)...!
