Interesting day out

Postby Hagar » Mon Apr 05, 2004 3:58 pm

I was told about this today by my friends at Ultimate High. It sounds like an interesting day out. If anyone in the UK can make it I might just see you there. ;)

16-18 April 2004 - Earls Court, London.

FLY! THE LONDON AIRSHOW

Whether you are a pilot, a pilot of tomorrow, have a passion for anything airborne or simply want to find out more about flying, Fly! The London Airshow provides a brand new aviation experience.
Packed with all types of general aviation, sporting and recreational aircraft you will be able to see everything from light aircraft and helicopters to microlights and gliders, equipment and technology, air charter companies, flying clubs, schools and associations, aerosports, services, accessories and clothing all under one roof.

Mix in seminars and spectacular features including a Survival at Sea demonstration and the largest simulator area ever seen with the chance to land a BA737, and you've got a great day out that's alive with the essence of aviation.

:'( :'(

That sounds a good day out. Half hour run up the road, BUT I am going to my caravan at Wareham, Dorset on the 14th for 12 days. Have to miss this one, unfortunately. Would have loved it :)

Tony

PS.  All these chats about meets, etc. Would it not be an idea for SimV to market a Baseball cap with Simviation written on it. If we all brought one we would probably meet loads of people locally and get to know each other ;)
Would be better than a red carnation, or a rolled up newspaper ;D

I haven't decided on going myself yet. It looks interesting but I dislike crowds & come over all claustophobic if there are too many people around. Then there's the inconvenience & cost of public transport. There's no way I'm driving anywhere near London & our railway system is not exactly cheap or reliable. This is the reason I give most of these events a miss. ::)

My big day out this year will (hopefully) be the "ILA" (international air and space expo) in Berlin.

But I think that the London Air Show will be a bit more interesting...

Hungary has cancelled its annual airshow, it'll only be every other year now. Father-in-law and myself are not happy >:(
However I'll have the new pilot in the family to contend with.
If you do go Hagar then please get lots of snaps ;)

That's bad news. We're spoiled for this stuff over here & the display season is almost upon us. This is one event I definitely won't be missing. http://www.zolid.com/cirrus/

I'll try. I carry my camera everywhere these days. It's an indoor exhibition, not a proper air display. The place is bound to be crowded which makes it difficult to get any decent photos.

Plus there will be screaming kids.  I hate screaming kids.  Mine turned into a screaming kid at Duxford.  She was afraid of the B-17.  Dunno why.  She screamed.  Alot.  Arrrrrrrgh.

I'm sure many German pensioners feel the same way about the B-17, quite understandably Will ;)
As a kid I was terrified of men with beards. Really hated them and would scream the place down.... Still don't like beards (nothing personal chaps, just I look damn silly with one!) :)

Maybe my daughter is the re-incarnation of Adolf.  Hmm, that would explain a few things...
