What do you do when...

your two year old son dips the remote for your brand new DVD player in the cat's water bowl and it doesn't work any more?  >:(  I can't believe this.  I haven't even had the thing a week yet!  I was going to take the thing apart to dry it out, but there are no screws in it, so I can't figure out how to separate the two halves.

Put it on the heater vent, maybe it'll dry itself out.

There are probably some holes where you can put a screwdriver and use it as a handspike to separate the front and the rear parts of the remote, you can use a hairdryer to dry the remote but be careful with the temperature.

Pity! Sometimes they can make comeback. U never know, maybe it will work after a dry.
Sometimes there is a scew where the battery is kept. Look under there. I think they are sometimes just held together by some sort of clip. Run your fingernails under it! I know some of ours just snap together.

If you mess around with it any warranty is invalid. I would simply go back to the place where I got it & ask for a new handset. I don't know where you purchased the item so this might not be possible. This is why I prefer to shop locally. It might cost a few pennies more but the service is there if you need it.

PS. You seem to be a tad accident-prone lately. In future be more careful with your expensive toys & keep them away from little hands.

Sounds like you need a universial remote! You can get them cheap and run everything from just one.
Then maybe you should hang it from the ceiling!!
You might also consider keeping the toilet seat locked because you know that is the next place after graduating from the kitty dish! LOL!!

Don't you have a return policy on that thing? Package it all back up and return it to the store, tell them that you want a replacement for the whole thing...

after they stop laughing at you, ask to talk to their boss...

 Rmember to remove the battery, shake out as much water as you can through the battery access opening and let it sit with the access open for 24 hours to allow the remote to dry thoroughly.  You might be surprised, the remote may come bact to life.  Other wise follow Jared's advice, TO THE LETTER.

Actually, I did get it apart, and I dried all of the water out of it.  It works fine now.  Yes, I do seem to have been having quite a few accidents lately.  Maybe I should stay in bed this week...
