New presidential helicopter

Postby Craig. » Sun Mar 28, 2004 6:40 am

Well as you know The Presidents helicopter is getting old and as a result of its age, the original is no longer in production and due to this, the president whom ever he may be, will be getting a new chopper in the comming years. There are two options currently they are a sikorsky(not sure which type) or a westlands Eh101 merlin(under the name of lockheed martin, but produced by westlands). Not knowing what sikorskys entry is, its difficult to say which is best but i could see a merlin as being the perfect option, its highly advanced its large enough to contain everything required and even after that its still very spacious. I'll try to get some more info to you all when my dad has it.

Also or the british tax payers among us. Your tax money is being thrown down the drain by the MOD because they still cant decide what helicopter they want. And once again they want changes made to our new carriers.

done some searching the sikorsky option will be the  VH-92 Super Hawk which is a version of the blackhawk i believe. They expect the winning option to be in service by 2008 maybe sooner.

You seem surprised. Politicians don't need experience & rarely know anything important. Theirs was always the highest paid unskilled profession in any country.

They've been wasting my taxes on stupid schemes since I started paying them over 45 years ago. Why change the habit of a lifetime? ::)

hmmm....The US designed and built Sikorsky v the English/Italian EH-101.

The 101 is there to make it look like a competition, it has no realistic chance of winning. It would be simply unacceptable for the POTUS to be flown around in a non-US designed and built A/C.

Yes, don't you remember? The great Mr. Sikorsky (God rest his soul) started his wonderful work where he lived in Germany. He ended up getting fed up with the German government's lack of support and and belief in the usefullness in the helo (along with telling him that it would never suceede and that he should stick to planes instead) after a number of failures. Eventualy he said, F**k you government! I'm moving somewhere where my work will be appricated and supported! You are the weakest link; goodbye!" (updated paraphrase version ;)) and he moved here to the U.S. with his creations to continue his work toward helo aviation. It has to be one of our all time best steals from other countries. Thank you Germany. ;D

Oh yeah I forgot. So yes it is a German name since it is an import, but it is ours anyway. Image
