Archer et all encounter a species who we recognize as the Borg...they are not named in the episode. :)

All these ships were named "Enterprise"...but what is that between the Shuttle and NCC-1701?

We've never seen all the namesakes, so why is it so hard to believe the NX-01 is one of them?

Tis only fiction chaps. ::)
I've liked Star Trek since the first episode was screened. It's been a good series but I know it's make believe & never took it seriously. :P ;D

that actually looks like a vulcan ship. but the pictures a little fuzzy to be able to tell. They did name the borg and the writers put it down as the NX01's fault that the borg knew about the human race. Even though again it was originally written that Q was the reason.

The ship in question is similar in design to a Vulcan ship...it's actually XCV-330 SS Enterprise.

Kirk actually states that all these ships were named Enterprise...

As for the Borg, Archer refers to Cochrane's warning of "cybernetic aliens" and we hear the aliens announce the "Resistance is futile, you will be assimilated", but I don't recall anyone saying "Borg".

As far as Q goes...that is easily understood...Q warned humanity about the Borg, even Picard says so. :) Q does similar, seeming nasty things on several occasions...and they turn out to be beneficial. Take a look at the TNG finale "And All Good Things", Q warns of the destruction of the galaxy, and points Picard to the solution.

Let's face it...with the exception of the "sublight Romulan War" the writers of Enterprise can "star trek" an explanation for almost all the other variances. :)

LOL, of course they can "explain" it still doesnt change the fact that if you watch various episodes of star trek both TNG and TOS, that the NCC1701 was the first starship named enterprise. Now it could be said that the NX01 isnt really a star ship and takes a week to travel the same distance Ncc1701 does in a day. there could be an explination. either way its one of those things, depending how picky a person really is, is how much of a problem it ends up being ;D

Perhaps the Borg presence in "First Contact" altered the timeline...?

Or, perhaps NCC-1701 (no A, or B, or bleedin C) was the first Federation starship to carry the name "Enterprise".

the problem with almost all the episodes of star trek, is they have been written in such a way that future events, couldnt possibly have effected that current time(if you get what i mean:)) IE: your line there is from the TNG episode with scotty and the computer states the number of ships which carried the name enterprise upto and including the enterprise D.  Had the writers planned any future series or episodes could change that they should have said numerous ships have carried the name enterprise and so on. And for a show as whole that deals with time travel often you'd have thought they would have learned by now. In the end its just way to complicated with too many explinations to each to go into, i just think instead of relying on old storylines, enterprise needs to bring some new storylines in, the whole point originally with enterprise was to show how the federation started out. Not one guy on a personal vendetta to save earth from a race that has never been heard in any previous series.(bare in mind here in UK we havent gotten too far into the series so if there is an explination as to this later on then we shall get it soon enough:)) my other problem with this character from the future is his uniform, maybe i missed something explaining this, but why is he wearing the NX01 style uniforms, all future starfleet uniforms have been mapped out, mainly in Voyager. Plus the rank pins wernt introduced till just after Kirks crew retired, up till that point that used arm bands to signify rank, yet the enterprise crew have pips. And finally(yes i am on a roll here ;D) Nemesis was filmed next door to the enterprise set, and even as acknowledgement of the series, they named one of the ships in the fleet waiting for the enterprise as the USS Archer. What did the actors and crew do as repayment? Stole parts of the bridge set including Picards Captain's chair, constantly got in the way of shooting and annoyed the cast, all in the name of fun they said. Personally i see that as disrespect to perhaps the most experianced group of actors to do with star trek, if i was one of them i would be asking for pointers on how to get the most out of the show, not taking props. If you havent noticed, but the episodes directed by former cast members have always been much better.
OK rant over with ;D
