Hey You Rotor Heads

Postby Scorpiоn » Mon Mar 15, 2004 7:51 pm

I think this is a Commanche, am I right?

It's from Dino Crisis 2 (for Playstation, but I got it to work with PC, since I don't want to buy a console for just one game).  You're about to get eaten by a pack of hungry dinos, when, suddenly, along comes Mr. Helicopter, and blowes them all back to Kingdom Come! ;D Quite schweet indeed! ;D

Yep, that's the Commanche beauty herself in all her glory.

For future reference, a realy easy way to tell is because it is the only helo with a tail fan and a T-tail combined.

I suspected as such.  Thanks Iced. ;)

I'm not big on aircraft.  Gimme a Corsair over a Commanche any day!

All right, enough. Someone answer me this: why are there so many fans of the Corsairs running around here? Do they have some special trait that I don't know about, besides their weird wings? Why aren't y'all into Mustangs or somthing; why is this one so special?
??? >:( ???

It goes in cycles.  Usually there are a lot of Spitfire and Hurricane fans on this site.  Sometimes even a few Me-109 lovers.  I myself prefer the N1K1-Ja.

don't start a thread on which figher is better, they just get locked very quickly.  All had their good points and weak points.  Ozzy is the only die hard spitfire fan i know of, i mean we all like the spitfire but Ozzy would fit a marmalade bomb to his and that just takes the relationship to another level.

Cosair looks nice.  I live the FW's.

I've never seen a discussion on best fighter locked yet. ;)

I always liked the Corsair. It's big, powerful, tough & fast. Probably the best of all Allied WWII naval fighters. It was certainly the most successful. It also looks the part & is sleeker than comparable US designs. This is one of my favourite photos of a nice looking aeroplane.

LOL The Seafire is a nice aircraft but I don't think it can match this. ::)

The Chance-Vought F4U Corsair was one of the most successful fighters of WWII.  In production longer than any other US fighter in World War II (1942-1952) with 12,571 built, the Corsair had several claims to fame, and some of which remained in service as late as 1965. It was credited with an 11:1 ratio of kills to losses in action against Japanese aircraft and was the last piston-engine fighter in production for the US, Fleet Air Arm or other naval air arms.

Corsair

Postby Scorpiоn » Tue Mar 16, 2004 3:21 pm

I prefer the F4U-1D or the F4U-1A myself.  Nice, sleek canopy. :-* The only weak point on Corsairs is that ugly, dark blue gloss.  The Marines scheme (three shade gradient) does it much more justice.

Although in Scorp Land the Corsair is always bare metal with black and white checkers. 8)

...
While we're on the subject of Corsairs, where are the dive brakes?  I remember in CFS2 they had 'em, but I always somhow suspected somebody at Microsoft got a bit tipsy when writing it up. :D
