All right, I'm back, I have to reply to this! You mean to tell me that only the rich pay for this!?! That is the most unfair thing I have heard in a long time. It is the same issue in this country that it makes it "unfair to give taxcuts to the rich because they make so much money anyway", even though we bear 85% of the the nations tax burden.
You forget that everyone benefits from this. From the rich to the poor. People are made to pay as much as they can afford. The richer they are the more money they can put out in taxes which means that those on lower incomes have money to live with.
This means that when anyone, and I mean anyone, in this country falls ill or for some other reason needs hospital treatment, they get it. Free of charge. And before you shout any more, this also applies to anyone who may not be a citizen but needs treatment. Far better im my opinion that being left on a stretcher for hours on end while the doctors check you have insurance to make sure they're going to be paid for giving you a shot of painkillers.
So I can tell you this, if you came to England and broke your neck then you will appreaciate the NHS far more than I would appreaciate the American health system if I did the same over there.
