I was at Ft. Polk a few years ago.  I didn't see any Mi-24s but I did see a "hoplite" and "hip" and an AN-2 "Colt" biplane.  They said they had "hinds".  At that time it was classified info as to where they obtained these aircraft.  These aircraft were flown by civilian contractors.

This is a case of "Theirs" being in "Ours" (sort of)

Also, did you know that the biggest active fleet of Mi-24s is here in the U.S?  They're used as aggressors for training.  Saw that on Discovery Wings!

Here's a good article on the Mi-24s at Ft. Polk.  It doesn't say anything about being the largest active fleet.  That I heard on Discovery Wings.  It had something to do with the collapse of the Soviet Union, and the former satellite countries not being able to support their aircraft anymore, the Mi-24 no longer in production, and how ironic it was that the largest group of active Hinds are now helping train the soldiers it was intended to destroy.

At Fort Bliss, there is one Mi-24 Hind-F (serial number '73-22270') and one Mil-24 Hind-D (serial number '32472' or '80616')

Then there is the ex-NVA Mi-24P (NVA 512, Luftwaffe 96+51, serial number) 340341
