Star Trek

Postby Craig. » Wed Feb 25, 2004 11:44 am

Ok i have been giving this some serious thought because i am seriously bored with enterprise, and its re-writing of history. But where can star trek go from here? Now think hard about this, dont just say oh they could go with some old character or ship and its future, bare in mind that Nemesis closed alot of doors, Voyager really cant be expanded on and DS9, is also done. A few things to take into account, the war with the Romulans has pretty much ended, the Enterprise is down all its familliar crew, and theres only so many times you can have a battle with the borg before it gets boring:)
The only realistic option is to expand its series by going with a differant race. Maybe a series on the Romulans, with the introduction of the Remans, their war with the Klingons and the new senate. Add to that the introduction of the new warbird, and the Scimitar, i think it allows some good advancement, as it also could cover their history with the Vulcans. But realistically thinking even that would be limited, and perhaps its time star trek called it a day.

1: Enterprise sucks
2: the trekkies will kill anyone who dares to stop broadcasting the same old crap (especially TNG) over and over again

DS9 was one of the better series, they managed to break the 'get halfway killed before you shoot back' attituide whih makes TNG so boring.

DS9 deserves a full-length movie. with a HUGE battle scene

DS9 couldnt have a huge battle scene, they have done that already, and it required half of starfleet to protect it. While the defiant class vessel is capable, its still to small to be considered a good battle vessel on its own. while a DS9 movie would be interesting and could close a few chapters on its own, i think the series did that well enough. Plus i dont think the characters hold enough pulling power to draw in the crowds. Also remember DS9 was a dark series, like you pointed out it wasnt a case of waiting to be attacked before returning fire, could that type of film draw??
i wouldnt call TNG boring though. and the reason they didnt have the enterprise constantly fight straight back, was because there wasnt really a ship that it couldnt destroy within seconds, its the same problem with the Enterprise E, apart from the Borg cube and now the Scimitar there isnt really anything that matches up to it.

Although I enjoyed this weeks Enterprise, the story had been done before and I'm a tad fed up with them flying around the expanse and getting nowhere.
I would love to see a DS9 based movie maybe involving some of the Voyager crew (Seven of Nine ;D) but I'm thinking maybe it's time to end it now. :'(

ah well, give it a few weeks, and picard and his enterprise will be transported back to help out the crew of the NX01(THERE WAS NO NAME FOR THIS SHIP), sorry but as has been prooven in episodes of various star trek shows, there were only 6 enterprises, NCC1701, NCC1701 A,B,C,D,E. This was recently repeated in the episode of TNG where scotty is on board, he asks the holodeck to create a bridge of the enterprise, it says "there have been 5 ships with the name Enteprise."

There were only 5 Federation starships with the name Enterprise at the time of Scotty's request. The computer didn't offer to show him the HMS Enterprize or CVN-65 USS Enterprise either. :)

NX-01 Enterprise is not a Federation Starship, Starfleet is a Terran organization.

I agree that Enterprise has messed with canon some...unavoidable to get any story lines out of it. The "Star Trek" explanation would probably be the fact of the temporal Cold War has messed with the timeline a bit and changed some details. TOS had some improbable ideas written into canon...like a sublight interstellar war! History had to be tweaked to make it actually make sense. :)

The next series, which I'll call ST:TNS for convenience, should re-visit some history. I'd like to see a series written about NCC-1701C. I think it would be very cool...we would already know the end of the series. Imagine an episode titled "Tomorow's Enterprise". Just imagine the horror of the Romulan commander when Enterprise shrugs off the worst they can dish out and comes back fighting like a demon. They defeat Enterprise and the Klingon outpost but then go into hiding for a couple of decades...unwilling to risk the Empire against a foe that has ships as powerful as the Ambassador class...a ship that had taken on 3 Warbirds and almost won.

It would be fascinating to see "Yesterday's Enterprise" from this perspective. I'd love to see the look on the Romulan Commander's face when Enterprise's sheilds pop back up and her weapons lash out. :) Don't forget the Klingons...imagine the survivors briefing the High Council.

if you wanna get specific:) the first starship named enterprise be it human federation or ferengi, was NCC1701, the NX01 while mentioned somewhere, never had a name. :)
as for NCC1701-C while in theory it would be a good series, it wouldnt be a long one, seeing as it had a very short service life and was destroyed. Remeber LT' Yars daughter being the romulan commander.
Actually that episode if you really think about it can give you a headache for ages:) yar goes from enterprise D to Enterprise C eventually being captured and killed. But if that was the case she could never have made it onto the enterprise D making her trip back to the enteprise C impossible, but with the trip back to C being impossible she never would have been killed thus ending up on enterprise D with the ability to go back to enterprise C. God i hate temperal mechanics ;D

Why not a series covering the first two captains of the NCC-1701 Enterprise. Christopher Pike was one of them.
