Because of the space race with russia. They wanted to get their before russia because many belive it was russias ultimate goal to build a missile station on their.

If you believe the US government lied about the existence of Area 51 & other secret projects why should this be any different?

What's Area 51? ??? ??? ???

The base at Area 51 is also used to evaluate foreign made aircraft.

Of course NASA really landed on the Moon.

I've been debunking the hoax theory ever since FOX aired a moon hoax show in 2001. There hasn't been a single hoax claim that doesn't have an explanation.

For one thing, Russia could track the radio communications coming from the Apollo spacecraft, so something obviously went to the Moon. And the astronauts talked about current news events, so they couldn't have been pre-recorded.

The astronauts brought back hundreds of pounds of moon rock. The rocks could not have come from Earth because they had never been exposed to air or water, but they HAD been exposed to billions of years worth of direct solar radiation and micro-meteor impacts. They are unique to the Moon. The Russians examined some of the Apollo lunar samples and they never doubted their authenticity.

So that's two examples of Russia (the cold war enemy of the US) verifying that the Apollo moon landings were real. Don't you think that if anyone would have a reason to accuse NASA of faking it, it would be the Russians?

I just saw this one bit of information on it and im still dont know. has anyone heard of the vanhoulten radiation belts? radiaion belts that surround the earth. they are 30 miles thick. if you wanted to go through them without any visible radiation damage you have to have 6 ft thick lead shealding. the nasa space craft had a little bit of alimiun and their space suits. they should have died due to radiation. so im still confused.  ??? i reckon that they did.

The radiation belt (called the Van Allen Belt) is actually proof that NASA did go to the Moon because the radiation is something they can't control, and therefore they can't lie about it.

The Russians were able to study the radiation and that means they would have known NASA was lying if they said it was less deadly than it really was.

The radiation in the Van Allen Belt is mostly alpha and beta particles, which can be stopped using aluminum. Actually, even without the aluminum most of the particles would have just bounced off the astronauts skin or clothes.

The radiation was not as harmful (over short periods) as x-rays like the conspiracy theorists would like you to believe, 6ft. of lead shielding was not required. Prolonged exposure to the Van Allen radiation would have made the astronauts sick (or killed them), but they spent less than an hour in the belt so the effects were minor. It's like running your hand through a flame... if you do it quickly enough you don't get burned.

If that doesn't convince you, the scientist who discovered the radiation belt, James Van Allen, has responded to the hoax theory by more or less saying it is ridiculous. If he doesn't believe the radiation would have killed the astronauts, why should we?

Keep in mind that many of the people who are pushing this hoax theory are just out to make money off gullible people... they have books and videos to sell, or they have radio shows to promote. Controversial claims attract a larger audience than the boring old truth that we went to the Moon.

I don't know if I saw the same program, but I have seen pictures of the America flying the flag on the moon. it was flapping in the wind. But then, there is no wind on the moon ???. So I put maybe. Just because of one photo. I am so gullible
I'm only smiling because they haven't found the bodies yet.

In every video of the "flapping flag" I have ever seen there has been an astronaut holding the flagpole, trying to force it into the ground. The astronaut moves the pole, which in turn moves the flag.

Why would NASA be so stupid as to allow such an obvious mistake to be made availabe to the public?

They had to have films of on the luna surface, so stanly kuberic was contacted due to his film 2001 a space oddity  ;D and he supervised the nasa use of the studio sets he had made for his film.
It was very political at the time, and covert.

How can any of you, who by the way, are using technology which was advanced tremendously by the entire space program, have any doubts at all ?.....
......especially since NASA is an extension of the things we all believe in ( Orville and Wilburs accomplishments and their advances to this day )...........
Without flight and its inevtiable progression into space travel, ( with "higher, faster, more powerful ) we all would have no interest in what we do on here.........

I feel badly for those who doubt, when we are all in direct benefit of it in so many ways................

Since this topic has been retrieved from obscurity I reserve the right to my own opinions. I don't try to force my opinions on others or ridicule them for not agreeing with me. As I've pointed out before, I saw these events transmitted, supposedly live, on TV at the time they actually happened. Some things I saw then didn't ring quite true & that was long before any of these conspiracy theories were ever suggested. I was by no means the only one to have doubts. The motives behind the whole project were always more political than scientific. I'm prepared to believe that men actually walked on the moon but wonder if some of the "evidence" is authentic. It's quite likely we will never know the real truth so it's pointless arguing about it. IMHO

I've grown more cynical over the years & now treat the things that governments, including my own, would have us believe with a large pinch of salt. These have so often proven untrue in the past when the real facts emerge, usually after a long period of time when the people involved are long dead & nobody is likely to care one way or the other.

There was no one more sceptical regarding the Moon landings than me, as you very well know.... ;)...!
However...
Now I am convinced that they did, and the living proof is that they brought elvis767 back with them... 8)...!
The truth was out there. It's back here now... ::)...!
