can someone run to the whitehouse and remove that 10 sq meters plate which is blocking their vision on reality.

the biggest bioweapon thereat at the moment in the US is just around the corner in those 'beauty farms'. Botox wrinkle removal, they are injecting the same stuff they are scared about in their faces to get rid of their wrinkles at an age of 40

I've heard of Botox but know little about it.
Does it really contain the same "agents/chemicals" as these "bioweapons" ?
If so this really has got to the point of sheer idiocy.!!!!

Although I believe it's most unlikely, I have no desire to meet one. These people are dedicated to their cause & have no fear of death. In fact they welcome it. They would willingly die to take you with them.

In the current situation it seems that all a terrorist (or anyone else) needs to do in order to cause major disruption is to circulate a rumour that there is a plot involving an airliner on a specific flight. The flight will then be cancelled, possibly for several days running, even if there was never a threat. They don't actually need to put themselves at risk at all. Very clever.

A comment from the captain of one of yesterday's cancelled flights said it all. They're scared of shadows & looking in the wrong places.

PS. The whole point about these cancelled flights is that it's all due to pressure from the US government on foreign carriers. I understand that they would not have been cancelled if the airlines had agreed to allow sky marshals on board. This would be against their principles & the wishes of their captains & flight crews.

'Botox' is the same stuff (botulism bacteria byproduct) as is used in bioweapons. it's the place, amount and mixture that makes the difference.

the effect is a stiffening of the muscles. so they inject it in wrinkles to let the muscles thighten up, lasts a few days(or weeks). if you apply it to vital muscles (hearth, breast muscles) , this will result in death.

oh and if you want a sample of it... wait for a hot summer and take a sample the blood of the dead ducks around ponds with non-flowing water. you will most likely have some of the stuff, even more if you take a sample of the water

The Government is constently saying "go about your daily routines, fly, buy,go to work so we can take your money, blah blah blah"
And then turn right around and start putting out all these warnings!!!!

It is the same as giving a child a piece of candy, then taking it away as soon as he tries to put it in his mouth!

Their feeble attempts of making people feel safe, are washed away by their own doings. It is a oxy moron to say the least!!!

That is why I say the terrorist have won!! And the Governments of the world are upping the terrorist's score by putting more fear in people by constintly issuing these repetitive warnings.
If there is a threat the Government should take care of it!
But the first thing they do is go straight to the press who then will blow it out of proportion even more!!!
There is no wonder why people live in fear, they are confused by the message!

having lived on army bases for most of my life i have seen many of the differant ways the army thinks terrorists could go about causing damage(in this case the IRA) between having to have your car searched entering the camp from top to bottom litterally. and having to evacuate your house for a few hours at least once a month. Anything is possible, and i mean anything, things we havent even thought of, like someone mentioned earlier in the thread.

Woody is quite right. Things are no longer clearcut where 2 armies face each other & fight it out. There is no way to identify your enemy as they wear no uniforms. He or she could be standing right alongside you in a bus queue & you would not be able to pick them out. Their aim is disrupution of our way of life with any means at their disposal. If this involves killing innocent people & blowing themselves apart in the process they will willingly do so. They rarely carry guns. The bomb is their chosen weapon.

This is a completely new thing in the US & naturally difficult for both the government & ordinary people to come to terms with. It's not going to go away. Most of Europe has been facing this threat daily for many decades. We're used to dealing with it & not letting it interfere with our lives.

This is a good way of putting it! And it comes from the mouth from someone who's job and life are directly affected by this!

W4P: I too like to hear others views and opinions, it gives me something to think about. And of course these are my opinions and mine alone. I respect the fact that everyone here is givin the right to voice what is on their mind.

And I really do belive that the terrorist are winning, all because of the fact their only purpose in life is to put fear in everyone and that is what is happening. People are scared!

As for the "candy" reference: I would assume you would know that the candy wasn't harmful before you gave it to the child.
That is why I used it, the Government tells us it is safe too fly, and then they turn around and tell us it isn't- the Government gives you the "candy" and then takes it away.

But did you know those exact same chemicals can form a deadly mixture if you have fair-enough knowledge of chemistry?

These days, it's just too easy to make deadly chemicals.

Anyways, even the Al-Queda tapes that were found in Afghanistan showed how to make a bomb out of household chemicals.

This is nothing new. I used to make pipe bombs for a bit of fun 50 years ago. We bought the ingredients quite openly from the local hardware & chemists shops in the high street. Add a little sugar & boom, there you go. We didn't realise how dangerous they were. These were exactly the same as the IRA used until the recent ceasefire agreement. It's a wonder I survived my childhood. LOL

It's no big secret but & you can find anything if you know where to look. I believe the plans for an effective nuclear device are posted in the internet.

Flying today, is probably safer than it has ever been - terrorism wise. I know, whenever we have even the slightest sliver of information about the possibility of terrorist activity here, it's all hands on deck, everyone gives 500%. . .  Guys, just remember this - These warnings are out there to basically, tell you that you have not been forgotten, and we (law enforcement) are still there for you when you need us. Thats what we do. Multnomah County, (Portland, Sheriff for Portland International Airport) has about 65 armed plain-clothed officers, at the airport, at any given time.  If you think they aren't looking for people that shouldn't be there, think again. This is only Portland, we are at a low risk here. Try New York. I've heard rumors of upwards of 100 employees at the airports. I would guess more, but I'm not sure. I don't have all the details.

Basically, to sum this all up, you're fine. Go fly somewhere.
