NYPD or LAPD

A friend and I are having a little wager. He claims that the Police department in New York is called the LAPD but I know it as the NYPD. who is right

I thought LAPD was Los Angeles.

I'm pretty sure New York is NYPD.  That's why all those TV shows are named "NYPD whatever".

..and the SFPD are the San Fransisco Police Department who keep locking up Ozzy, Rifleman and me for flying under Golden Gate Bridge at every opportunity... ;)...!

maybe eireplane's friend played too much gta3, because the police dept. there is the LCPD (liberty city (a "clone" of NYC) police dept.).

even so, LCPD is still an acronymn for Liberty City PD, still shouldn't have a problem with LAPD & NYPD ::)
