Internet scams...

Postby Wing Nut » Wed Jan 21, 2004 6:00 pm

I usually delete what junk mail gets through without reading it, but the scams get pretty funny sometimes.  I can't believe how obvious these things get sometimes.  Here is an example of one I got today.  That people actually fall for crap amazes me.

DEAR,
It is my pleasure to write you after much
consideration, since I cannot be able to see you face
to face at first.  Being the only SON of my father, late Mr.  Samuel Oduduwa from SIERRA-LEONE
Africa (SA) I am 25 years of age.  My father was limited liability DIAMOND and Gold merchant in FREETOWN SIERRA-LEONE before his untimely death. After his business trip to abidjan to nagociate on a GOOD
INVESMENT business he wanted to invest in abidjan.

A week after he came back from abidjan , he got an accident with my mother of which my mother died instantly but my father died after five days in a private hospital on that faithful afternoon, I didn

LOL I've heard about this type of scam but this is the first time I've actually seen one. How can anyone with an ounce of sense be fooled by that? ???

It can only be that they're blinded by greed. Personally I think they deserve to be cheated. ::)

At various times, this has been going on.  I first remember it as a snail-mail scam over 7 years ago.  Usually it's xxxx from Nigeria.  Typically this is the "Nigerian Oil Company scam".  The sad part is, yes, people have fallen for it.

I actually know someone this stupid, I'm related to her!
My cousin sent someone in Cambodia $350.00 by wire transfer for a plane ticket to the States. When upon his arrival he would share a percentage of a fourtune he obtained because of his fathers death.
She sent the money and has yet to recive anything. DUH!!!!
She asked me if the person could be sued?
I said probably not, if you tried the Judge would probably fine you extra for stupidity!!!!
So yes it is a fact that these morons do exisit! and I'm related to one!  ;D

I've received these before, they wanted me to come to Nigeria to collect my $250,000 or something like that, whatever! I deleted it promptly as I have any other e-mail promising to make me rich, get me out of debt or make my shlong get bigger.
Still no linked images allowed around here Paz! Naughty...

The point here is - do you actually have a septic tank? I've lost count of the number of times a double-glazing salesperson walks up my drive, passing the double-glazed windows on their way, & rings the bell on my double-glazed door. Then tries to sell me - guess what? - you got it :D - double bloody glazing......! :o

Then they wonder why I give them a strange look when I answer the door. ::)

Heres a new one I had yesterday (not e-mail though)
Me and a mate were going through web sites(was showing him where to get some FS stuff, got him converted ;D) and i said i needed the loo. Get back and he's only opened a new window and tried to look up hardcore porn on my computer. ::)
I did have 3 versions of Gator, xxx.exe, sms.exe 4sex.cfg on my HDD, and whenever I loaded up windows or IE I was bombarded with sex adverts. >:(
Even if you deleted the cookies and files, or set your default page to blank they still poped up!
I did a system-restore and everythings OK now. but i really think this kinda stuff should be stoped cos the amount of trouble I had trying to get rid of it.

Get SpywareBlaster!!!!!!!
It keeps these things from installing on your HD!!
With it and not using IE I don't have that problem anymore!! :)
