Politically correct

Postby Tequila Sunrise » Thu Jan 15, 2004 12:31 pm

I was talking to my geography teacher the other day and somehow we ended up on the subject of political corectness, anyway:

It is now offensive to order a black coffee
It is now offensive to order a white coffee
It's is now offensive to reffer to a blackboard as a blackboard
It is now offensive to have Merry Christmass or a religious image on a CHRISTmas card

Am I the only one that thinks that all this PC BS has gone a little to far?

Nope. I think the Big Yin summed it up best when he called PC the language of cowardice.
Call a spade a spade is my motto.

The politically correct crowd are basically morons with nothing constructive to occupy their otherwise useless existence. Just like the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) trying to stop the use of any American Indian terminology for any school mascot. Next the PITA people will kick in with it is embarrassing to animals to be subjected to this humiliation and then look out Miami Dolphins, Carolina Panthers, Philadelphia Eagles, and all the other teams that use an animal for their mascots. Next will be, People for the Ethical Treatment of Pirates (which will cover the buccaneers), then People for the Ethical Treatment of Former Greek Gods, look out Tennessee Titans...lmao....this could get seriously ridiculous if all these whine asses are permitted to get away with this type of crap..

Scary, we recently started to get political correctness here with regard to the gypsy peoples. That lasted about 18 seconds! I think Hungarians have some kind of immunity to silly foreign ideas (except ones involving alcohol related experiments ;D).
Personally if you can't say what it is, or you can't say something nice then don't open your mouth.
Of course I'm a hypocrite, as as a teacher I have to be horrible nasty err honest about my students performance (but I was told that using medical terminology in school reports to describe students was unacceptable as I was not a biology teacher :() Some people really don't have a sense of humour, they seem to go under the collective title "Parents" ::) ;D

I'm with the Big Yin on this one. I refuse to comply with the ridiculous demands of these ridiculous people. They are usually white & look for anything they think could possible offend anyone in an ethnic minority - whether it actually ever did is not part of the equation. By doing this they often cause offence, resentment & prejudice where none existed before.

A previous chaiman of the CRE (Commission for Racial Equality) who is himself a British Asian mentioned this in a recent radio interview. He agrees with me that they are misguided & wrong.

If they investigated the important issues instead of wasting their time on this PC nonsense I would have no objection to this organisation at all. While they seem to have a strange way of doing it, they could be a big benefit to our society. http://www.cre.gov.uk/

If those morons like to enforce political correctness by protesting and such against the use of animals as mascot or protesting against the use of words like Snow Cone and such, they have to consider this:

There are non-politically-correct people in this country who also have their rights, you know. In fact, the majority of this country consists of people who don't give a 2-cents about political correctness. So if they believe the word Black Coffee or Blackboard is NOT offensive, then let them say it.

So, if the morons like to protest against the use of animals as mascots and such, then they are doing more damage than good because they are obstructing the rights of those who don't give a d*mn about political correctness.

Moderators, if you feel that this thread has gone a tad too far, then go ahead and lock this post if you like.

Anyways, this case of you-know-what has already gone too far because there was once a woman who protested against the use of certain christmas decorations in many places. She said that some of the decorations seemed offensive to her because they DIDN'T symbolize the christian faith.

COME ON!!!!! Christmas decorations are just Christmas decorations.

And believe it or not, she was the only person protesting and no one else.

Dreaming up and enforcing PC is a way for a powerless person to enforce their will on others, sometimes on a large scale. Gives them a little ego trip.

Notice my little saying at the bottom of the post - shows how much I care about PC, but then again I am mixed blood and enough Choctaw to feel that I qualify.  ;D

I've been thinking about this, and PC has been sneaking into Britain for a while now. My second goddaughter (who is now 10) was learning the song "Baa Baa Green Sheep" at primary school ::)
I've got a really good idea. Lets do a Kenny Everett special, his legendary character American General Franklin D. Bomb-The-Bastards. "Round them all up" (the PC people) "put them in a field and bomb the bastards" ;D
Dear old cuddly Ken. A great loss to comedy :'(

I've heard this one before although I didn't believe it at first. This is how these people actually think. ::) Now tell me, have you ever seen a green sheep? ??? I know I haven't unless some vandals decide to do something to put that right with their aerosol cans one dark night. :o
So whatever is your poor god daughter supposed to think about that? Confusing or what?  ??? Complete & utter nonsense.  >:(
(You might have noticed that is becoming my favourite word these days.) :o )

Oh how I wish he was still around. Maybe then they would see how ridiculous it all is.

Black sheep were valuable during the Middle ages as the wool was a different colour and therefore desirable.

The poem says "Have you any Wool?" this indicates that wool is required.

The wool is given to three people.

The Master - The boss, who you need to keep on your side.

The Dame - The Wife of a knight, thus implying a fuedal obligation.

The Little boy who lives down the lane - Rhyming convention.

PC usually is born in ignorance and fosters ignorance.  Ignorance will kill you faster than anything.  Except a marmarlade bomb.  That's a bit quicker.  And Saurkraut.

Can I say "Saurkraut"?  After all a "Kraut" is a derogative term for a German.  I may offend Bjorn by mentioning pickled cabbage and using the correct German term for it.  From now on no-one on the forum can mention pickled cabbage in German as it's not PC.

Doug do you remember his appearance at the Conservative Party Conference back in the 80's? The look on Maggies face, and the cheering when he was waving those giant hands around and made the immortal comment "Lets kick Michael Foots stick away!"
Funny funny man. I hope they release his stuff on DVD, I happily would pay for that ;D ;D ;D
Of course one mustn't forget his other greats like Cupid "all done in the best possible taste" Stunt, Marcel Wave, Gizzard Puke and Sid Snot ;D

I remember every moment but thanks for reminding me. ;D
Our Ken was an extremely talented person. This might be before your time but he started out on radio. The Kenny Everett Show was a riot. I never missed it if I could help it. He used to do skits on the Beatles records with him singing all the parts. This was in the days when the backing track was completely separate from the vocals. It must have taken hours of work. ::)

A very funny man. They don't make 'em like that any more. ;D

This was on good ol' Auntie Beeb. We couldn't get Capital where I was. I'm not sure it even existed at the time. Must have been the mid-60s. ::)

PS. I wasn't far out. 8)
