Snowy in Seattle

 I know for alot of you out there this is no big deal, but in the Seattle area this only happens about once a year and that makes it something.

 Early this morning snow started falling in the Seattle area and its expected to continue to fall until late this afternoon, when it will turn into rain, that will wash the white stuff away.

 Snow has blanketed the area.  I've got atlease four inches outside my door and on my truck!  Schools have been closed and shops haven't opened.  Roads are icy and there have been so many spin out accidents that the Dept. of Transportation has stopped keeping count.  Police are saying  that unless you have to go out, stay at home.  Snowmen, snow angles and spontaneous snowball fights are breaking out on every block.

 The kids, home from school, are taking full advantage of the snow becouse, like Frosty, they know it may all be gone tomorrow.

 As for me, I prepared.  Fueled the truck the day before.  Stocked up with lots of snack food and drink, got some new magazines to read and turned up the heat in my condo.  All set to be snowed in for a couple of days!

Good for you!  

You know, it always makes me laugh when an area not used to snow gets even the smallest amount, like your 4 inches.  Because they always tell the people to only go out if you have to.  I'm not shotting anyone down, I'm just used to a lot of snow.  Infact, we just got a small 10 minute snow storm that dropped about a 1/2 an inch.  A lot for such a short period of time.

Jeez I shoveled snow all day, and right now im dead tired. ( I work at Cedar River apt's, Renton.) and yeah, trouble is the rain aint washin it away, it's just freezing instead( didnt warm up as it was supposed to huh?) makin the roads veerrrrry dangerous!
I know I aint goin out there in my little 79' celica, id be in the first ditch.
Heck they were skiing & snowboarding in downtown Seattle!!

 Did you see the guy using the ironing board as a sled!  When his grandmother gave it to him he said he'd find some USE for it.

Several years ago, our family spent a Christmas with my Grandparents who used to live in Seattle. That night, there was almost a foot of snow that fell, stranding us there

On the third day we were able to shovel our way out, up a long driveway uphill

Can you imagine being snowed in, in Seattle

Here in Northern Idaho, it could snow a foot, but the roads would have been plowed most of the night and schools would still be open

 Raining all night has turned Seattle into the worlds largest Slushie!!

 I know we sound like wimps, just a few inches of snow and everything closes down, but that's the way it is around here.  We're just not use to the cold white stuff like those furher east...... like Andrew.

 I was out of town when the last big snow storm hit, so this is about as bad as I can remember since I mover here in '91.

If it was the same way here in Sweden we would only be able to have schools open during the summer  ;D

You know, weather is really wierd.  It's the last truly arcane science except for Earthquake predicting.  Yesterday, after running around and taking the babies to the doctor and all my other things, the temperature was 10 degrees.  That was at 5:00 pm.  When I went out for Chinese at 9:30, it was 30 degrees.  Go figure...

I posted the snow on Vancouver Island in "photos" just yesterday .....its not the norm for here either..........

 Where I live in Michigan, 4 inches of snow is considered "flurries" and they usually don't even bother plowing, then when it turns into ice, they throw a little dirt on the hills and thats about it.

Well, im certainly glad the power outages are over, I been out of commision since tuesday morning.
The power went out about 4:00am and so by the time I woke up the apt was dark, and it had been that way the rest of the week, sure did get cold too with no heat.
heh, but I was more upset not being able to have the computer on than anything, no flyin, no internet, and no TV as well as no heat ..............Whew!!

Then even with the power restored this computer of mine wouldnt re-boot, seems I had a low CMOS batt. and all the confg. was lost, but I been havin problems with that for some time.

Which BTW, anyone know what it would mean to get this bios message on start-up: "CMOS/GPNV checksum Bad" ?

Well all is running again now but im afraid to shut this thing down for fear it will not boot up again, but it's good to be back anywho

 Wondered what happened to you!  We had a few cold days there, hope you thawed out ok!
 At my place the lights flickered a few times, so I knew someone was having troubles somewhere but my place made it through just fine.  Better than where I work, a transformer went down and we lost two days of production...not good.
 But now the snows gone, the powers back on and the holidays are over....things should start returning back to normal.
