For example most downloadable software (shareware) requires a key or registration code you get when you pay for the product. And when a hack tries to break that code it will render the software useless.
Or I think it will. I know a friend of mine tried using one of those downloaded "cracks" for some sort of software (don;t remember which it was) and when he applied the "crack" not only did it render the software useless but also messed up his computer pretty good. So I don't know if that was programed in the software or if it was the downloded crack itself but what ever it was it made a mess and to this day he hasn't tried to crack another program!!
And no I'm not the "friend"!!

But this would be looking into!! something with a self distruct feature, you try to alter or pirate it it explodes in your face!(not literally!)
