CRIMSON SKIES ...

Postby CMINIVSDRACO » Wed Dec 31, 2003 10:44 am

Hi all!
I have "rediscovered" this old game today... Reinstalled and played for 1 hour ... just to test my new joystick (MS SideWinder FFB). Works fine, and still a good game (for unrealistic but fun dog fight action I mean, not pure simulation ...)

What do you think about this game ? honestly.

Do you know if a CS community exists somewhere on the web ? a dedicated site ?

Thx for replies :)

Draco

M$ sent me a preview copy of CS to try. It didn't run too well on my old system. From what I saw of it I thought it was more like a fantasy version of CFS3. In fact I suspect that CFS3 was partly based on it. :o ;)

Like Hagar I got a review copy. Thought it was a great game, but not really a flight sim. :)

It's still fun to fly around and blow stuff up...kinda like an "FS Shooter".

Played the Demo, wasn't "as real as it gets" but it was fun.  Thought about buying it, but never did.

In my humble opinion, the fact that the flight model in not realistic is not a problem... the dog fights are really fun to play :)
It's like playing with "easy flight models" in CFS2 or CFS1 ... or even "VERRRY easy flight models" ... ;)

It's not a sim, but when 2 real sim-fighters fight, the best will prevail. I see it like a big, fun, very fluid dog-fight sim...
just my humble opinion :)

If anybody is interested I posted the preview that I wrote a couple of years back. It's an old game...but it is fun. :)

Great fun!

Annoying music....

Its hardly real, not many PC games are....

Runs insanely well on current kit....

Better served after a visit to the pub etc

Still on my HD and regularly played.

I never got a demo! did I ???

CMINIVSDRACO,
go to the zone. You can play multiplayer there and there are still quite a few clubs, or clans, whatever you want to call them. Just ask around in the lobby there and you should get plenty of info from the guys and gals. For the most part they are a pretty good group there, still have the occasional PITA but you are gonna find that anywhere.
I used to be a member of one the groups that still fights there, good times to be had.
Hope this helps,

Kevin
