CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR

Postby FLYING_TRUCKER » Fri Dec 12, 2003 9:52 am

:)Read with great interest what some folks would like to see in the NEW FLIGHT SIM PROGRAM.
Many would like to fly through different types of weather rather than just CAVU (clear air visibility unlimited).  Thats great in a sim....HOWEVER....Pilots have an old saying......
I WOULD RATHER BE DOWN HERE
WISHING I WAS UP THERE
RATHER THAN UP THERE
WISHING I WAS DOWN HERE

CHEERS.......Doug

Right-o Doug,...........I've heard that anology before myself.
It was worded a little different, but it went like this;
"Better to be looking up in the air wishing you were flying, than to be up there flying wishing you weren't"
Heh, this is so true!
And here's another one from "Pearls of wisdom" by Ralph Butcher(Flight Training Magazine)

"Truly superior pilots are those who use their superior judgement to avoid those situations where they might have to use their superior skills"
And another;
"Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement"

Cheers right back to ya.....................Chuck. 8)

Here's an old one with my own little epilogue.

Only birds & fools fly. Sometimes fools fly when birds know better.

And the oldest & best.

There are old pilots & bold pilots but no old bold pilots.

Fly safely everyone. ;)

Just thought of this one Chuck :) :) :)
I was left seating a DC3 years back, we were past point of no return, alternate socked in, no VOR's of course, navigating by ADF, de-icing boots on, getting ready to do an ADF approach, right seater just been checked out on type, ice bouncing off fuselage from props sounding like some-one was pounding on the small escape hatch port side behind/below pilots window.  I said to right seater...see who's at the door..undid his seat belt started to get up...stopped...and then poked me for some ungodly reason.......cheers......Doug

"The only time you can too much fuel is when you're on fire!"

"The propeller is just a big fan in the front of the plane to keep the pilot cool. Want proof? Make it stop; then watch the pilot break out into a sweat."

"The probability of survival is equal to the angle of arrival."

"You know you've landed with the wheels up when it takes full power to taxi."

"Good judgment comes from experience and experience comes from bad judgment."

"It's easy to make a small fortune in aviation. You start with a large fortune."

"Gravity never loses -- the best you can hope for is a draw!"

The old ones are always the best...  ;)

I think this is a misquote. It originally applied to war.

"Infantrymen have often said that combat consists of long periods of boredom punctuated by moments of sheer terror."

Good sayings :) :) :) :) :)

Here's one you can add if you like.

The most two useless things to have with an engine failure...

:) :)Here's one for you.....

Why do fighter pilots mount an aircraft from the port side????

Answer:  During the First World War the Machine Gun made calvry charges obsolete.
Many calvry folks were absorbed into the Newly formed ROYAL FLYING CORPS.
Since you mount a horse on the port (left) side so do you a fighter aircraft.
ALSO:  Proper Officer Mess Dress included Spirs which was a tradition in the ROYAL CANADIAN AIR FORCE until that nasty thing called UNIFICATION.

Bet I am in the wrong Forum aren't I???? :) :) :)
Cheers .......Doug
