Read with great interest what some folks would like to see in the NEW FLIGHT SIM PROGRAM.
Many would like to fly through different types of weather rather than just CAVU (clear air visibility unlimited).  Thats great in a sim....HOWEVER....Pilots have an old saying......
I WOULD RATHER BE DOWN HERE
WISHING I WAS UP THERE
RATHER THAN UP THERE
WISHING I WAS DOWN HERE

Right-o Doug,...........I've heard that anology before myself.
It was worded a little different, but it went like this;
"Better to be looking up in the air wishing you were flying, than to be up there flying wishing you weren't"
Heh, this is so true!
And here's another one from "Pearls of wisdom" by Ralph Butcher(Flight Training Magazine)

"Truly superior pilots are those who use their superior judgement to avoid those situations where they might have to use their superior skills"
And another;
"Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement"

Just thought of this one Chuck
I was left seating a DC3 years back, we were past point of no return, alternate socked in, no VOR's of course, navigating by ADF, de-icing boots on, getting ready to do an ADF approach, right seater just been checked out on type, ice bouncing off fuselage from props sounding like some-one was pounding on the small escape hatch port side behind/below pilots window.  I said to right seater...see who's at the door..undid his seat belt started to get up...stopped...and then poked me for some ungodly reason.......cheers......Doug

Here's one for you.....

Why do fighter pilots mount an aircraft from the port side????

Answer:  During the First World War the Machine Gun made calvry charges obsolete.
Many calvry folks were absorbed into the Newly formed ROYAL FLYING CORPS.
Since you mount a horse on the port (left) side so do you a fighter aircraft.
ALSO:  Proper Officer Mess Dress included Spirs which was a tradition in the ROYAL CANADIAN AIR FORCE until that nasty thing called UNIFICATION.

Bet I am in the wrong Forum aren't I????
